English (TGT) Vacancy in Raipur, Chhattisgarh
Salem English School
Job Description
Institution Environment
Salem English School sits in the heart of Raipur, where the city’s quiet lanes meet the energy of young learners. Teachers here work in small teams, often planning lessons together over chai in the staff room before the first bell. The school runs on a rhythm that balances structure with space for new ideas, especially in how English is taught beyond textbooks.
Role Summary
The TGT English Teacher will lead classes from grades 6 to 8, shaping how students read, write, and speak in English. You will join a group of teachers who share lesson plans, student work samples, and quick fixes for tricky grammar questions. Your voice in department meetings will matter as much as your presence in the classroom.
What You Will Do
Plan weekly English lessons that connect local stories to global themes, using resources from Raipur’s libraries and online archives. Conduct daily reading circles where students discuss short stories, poems, and news articles they’ve chosen themselves. Design writing assignments that let students describe their neighborhoods, festivals, and dreams in clear, confident English.
Assess student writing through quick feedback sessions rather than heavy red-pen marking, focusing on progress over perfection. Organize monthly English corners in the corridor where students display posters, book reviews, and short plays written by their peers. Collaborate with the art teacher to turn Shakespearean sonnets into comic strips or skits performed in the assembly hall.
Attend bi-weekly department huddles to review student work and adjust lesson pacing based on what’s working. Communicate with parents through simple WhatsApp updates about reading goals and upcoming writing tasks, avoiding long reports and jargon.
Eligibility Criteria
Postgraduate degree in English with minimum 55% marks from a recognized university. B.Ed or D.El.Ed completed from a NCTE-recognized institute. Two years of classroom experience in teaching English at middle school level. Familiarity with CBSE or state board curriculum preferred.
Perks and Pay
Salary ranges from Rs.25,000 to Rs.40,000 per month based on experience and qualifications. School provides yearly textbook allowances and reimbursement for approved professional development courses. Staff get access to the school library and digital resources during evenings and vacations.
