Role Summary
The Department of Pedodontics and Preventive Dentistry at Sudha Rustagi College Of Dental Sciences & Research, Faridabad, is seeking a Professor to lead academic and research initiatives in Pedodontics. What You Will Do
Teach undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Pedodontics, ensuring alignment with UGC and DCI standards. Develop and deliver evidence-based curriculum modules, integrating the latest advancements in preventive and interceptive orthodontics, behavior guidance, and dental traumatology.
Lead research in pediatric oral health, focusing on cariology, pulp therapy, and special care dentistry. Publish findings in peer-reviewed journals indexed in PubMed, Scopus, and Web of Science, maintaining a consistent record of high-impact research.
Guide Ph.D. scholars in their doctoral research, from topic selection to thesis submission. Serve on university academic committees, including board of studies and doctoral advisory panels, shaping institutional academic policies.
Collaborate with national health programs and NGOs to design community outreach projects in pediatric oral health. Present research at national and international conferences, representing Sudha Rustagi College Of Dental Sciences & Research.
Engage in consultancy and expert review for national journals in Pedodontics and Preventive Dentistry. Mentor junior faculty members through structured academic development programs and peer-learning initiatives.
Participate in interdisciplinary research with departments such as Orthodontics, Public Health, and Community Medicine. Contribute to the development of clinical guidelines and standard operating procedures for pediatric dental care.
Eligibility Criteria
A recognized postgraduate degree in Pedodontics is mandatory. Ph.D. in Pedodontics or a closely allied field is required for the Professor position. Candidates with post-doctoral research experience and international exposure will be given preference.
UGC-NET with JRF or equivalent qualification is essential for candidates without a Ph.D. A minimum of 10 years of teaching and research experience at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels is required. At least 3 years in the position of Associate Professor or equivalent is necessary.
A sustained record of high-quality publications in Pedodontics, indexed in Scopus or Web of Science, is expected. Evidence of funded research projects and ongoing collaborations with national health agencies is desirable.
Academic Projects
Lead or co-lead collaborative research projects funded by ICMR, DBT, or DST in areas like early childhood caries prevention and fluoride varnish efficacy. Apply for extramural grants under the UGC-SAP or DST-FIST programs to strengthen research infrastructure.
Design and implement longitudinal studies on oral health outcomes in children with special needs, in partnership with local schools and NGOs in NCR. Publish findings in high-impact journals such as the Journal of Clinical Pediatric Dentistry and the International Journal of Paediatric Dentistry.
Develop clinical audit projects to improve quality of care in pediatric dental OPDs at Sudha Rustagi College Of Dental Sciences & Research. Present research outcomes at national conferences like the ISPPD Annual Conference and the FODI International Symposium.
Doctoral Guidance
Supervise Ph.D. scholars in Pedodontics, guiding them from proposal development to thesis defense. Evaluate doctoral theses and serve as external examiner for universities across India.
Facilitate interdisciplinary doctoral research with departments such as Oral Medicine and Radiology. Encourage students to publish their work in peer-reviewed journals during their candidature.
Organize monthly research colloquia where doctoral students present progress and receive feedback from faculty. Maintain a mentorship log to track academic and professional development of each research scholar.
