Delhi Public School, Sohna has grown alongside the town of Sohna in Gurugram, becoming a familiar part of the daily rhythm here. When we first opened our doors a few years ago, the aim was simple: to give the children of this neighbourhood a place where they could learn, play and feel safe. Over time the school has become a landmark that many families point to when they talk about the progress of their own children, and the old mango tree behind the playground now feels as much a part of the school as the classrooms themselves.
Our values are rooted in honesty, respect and a love of learning. We try to model those qualities in everything we do, from the way teachers greet students each morning to how we celebrate local festivals together. The school works closely with the residents of Sohna, inviting parents and community members to take part in cultural events, health camps and clean‑up drives. The relationship is not just about the school asking for support; it is about giving back, sharing resources and listening to the concerns of the families that live just a short walk away.
In the classroom we follow a teaching philosophy that balances the rigour of the CBSE curriculum with an emphasis on understanding concepts rather than memorising them. Lessons often begin with a question that encourages students to think for themselves, and then we move on to experiments, projects or field visits that make the ideas real. Outside the classroom, students spend time on the sports field, in the music room or helping in the garden, and they learn to work together, to fail and to try again. By the time they leave DPS Sohna, they carry with them not just academic knowledge but a sense of belonging to a community that has watched them grow.
