Activity (PRT) Vacancy in Samastipur, Bihar
St Josph Public School
Job Description
What It Is Like Here
St Josph Public School sits in the heart of Samastipur, where the morning bell rings over quiet lanes and the evening bus queues stretch along Gandhi Chowk. Teachers here step out of classrooms straight into corridor conversations about last night’s local cricket match or the upcoming Bihar Bandh. The staff room feels like a small family—seniors share chai, new teachers find desks next to those who have taught for two decades, and everyone remembers every child’s birthday. Morning assemblies are led by different departments each week, so an Activity Teacher might conduct a ten-minute aerobics demo one day and a quick origami demo the next.
Job Overview
St Josph Public School is inviting applications for a full-time PRT Activity Teacher Vacancy in Samastipur. The role is designed for a graduate with at least two years of hands-on experience in planning and delivering co-curricular sessions. You will integrate movement, craft, music, and life-skill activities into the timetable so that every child in Classes 1 to 5 spends at least one forty-minute slot each day outside the core subjects. TET/CTET certification is not mandatory; however, a D.El.Ed or B.Ed will be required at the time of joining.
Day-to-Day Duties
Plan weekly activity calendars aligned to the monthly themes chosen by the school—for instance, a “Green Samastipur” month may include sapling decoration and waste-segregation games.
Organise indoor and outdoor activity corners in each corridor; rotate props every fortnight so children have fresh challenges.
Conduct warm-up drills, yoga, and aerobics in the playground before classes begin on rainy days.
Teach origami, paper quilling, and simple craft kits sourced from local markets in Motipur.
Run a 15-minute music circle daily, teaching patriotic songs, folk rhymes, and simple guitar or harmonium pieces.
Arrange inter-house activity fests every term; set up stalls, judge mini-competitions, and coordinate with the sports teacher for relay races.
Document each child’s participation in a simple register; share progress with class teachers during Friday staff meetings.
Attend monthly curriculum review meetings in the AV room to suggest new activity modules based on student feedback.
Eligibility Criteria
Graduation from a recognised university.
Two years of experience in activity teaching, coaching, or hobby classes.
D.El.Ed or B.Ed degree from an NCTE-recognised institution.
Preference will be given to candidates who have worked in Bihar schools and are familiar with local cultural references.
What You Get
A fixed monthly salary of Rs.15,000 to Rs.20,000, credited on the last working day of every month. St Josph Public School provides annual festival bonuses, mid-day tea and snacks during activity hours, and reimbursement for local travel within Samastipur for school-related purchases.
