Pedagogy and Tools
As a PGT Sociology Teacher, you will be expected to use a range of pedagogical tools and methods to engage students and promote their understanding of sociology. Day-to-Day Duties
- Teach Sociology to students of the school, using a range of pedagogical tools and methods to engage students and promote their understanding of the subject.
- Prepare and deliver lesson plans, taking into account the needs and abilities of students.
- Mark and assess student work, providing constructive feedback to help students improve their understanding of sociology.
- Develop and implement schemes of work, in consultation with colleagues and senior management.
- Contribute to the development of the school's Sociology curriculum, in line with national and local requirements.
- Participate in staff meetings and training sessions, to keep up-to-date with developments in Sociology teaching and learning.
- Supervise students during breaks and lunchtimes, and provide support and guidance as needed.
- Participate in extracurricular activities, such as clubs and societies, to enhance student engagement and motivation.
- Maintain accurate records of student progress and achievement, and use this information to inform teaching and learning.
Eligibility Criteria
- A postgraduate degree in Sociology or a related subject.
- A B.Ed. or D.El.Ed. qualification, with a strong understanding of Sociology teaching and learning.
- A minimum of 3 years' experience of teaching Sociology in a school setting.
- Strong subject knowledge and teaching skills, with the ability to engage students and promote their understanding of sociology.
