Job Description

Non-Teaching Staff (NTT) Environmental Studies (EVS) Teacher Position

Birla Open Minds International School in Srinagar is seeking a dedicated NTT Environmental Studies teacher to join its vibrant academic community. This full-time role focuses on fostering hands-on learning in EVS across diverse grade levels, aligning with modern curriculum standards while engaging students in real-world sustainability projects. With a salary range of Rs.14,000 to Rs.24,000 per month, this opportunity offers a chance to shape young minds through experiential and eco-conscious education.

The successful candidate will collaborate closely with the school’s EVS department to develop engaging lesson plans that integrate local environmental challenges and global conservation efforts. Experience in designing field-based activities, such as nature walks, waste management workshops, or community science projects, will be highly valued. The role emphasizes practical teaching methods that bridge classroom theory with outdoor exploration, ensuring students gain both academic knowledge and environmental stewardship skills.

A graduate degree with a minimum of two years of teaching experience is essential. While TET/CTET certification is preferred, it is not mandatory for this NTT position. The ideal candidate will have a passion for environmental education and the ability to adapt teaching strategies to meet the evolving needs of students in a multicultural setting.

Responsibilities include:

1. Designing and implementing EVS lessons that incorporate local ecosystems, biodiversity, and climate change concepts.
2. Organizing field trips and outdoor learning experiences to enhance students’ understanding of environmental systems.
3. Collaborating with the school’s science faculty to align EVS curriculum with broader interdisciplinary projects.
4. Assisting in the preparation of educational materials, including posters, models, and digital resources for EVS topics.
5. Participating in school events focused on environmental awareness, such as tree-planting drives or recycling campaigns.
6. Evaluating student projects and field observations to provide constructive feedback and encourage critical thinking.
7. Maintaining accurate records of student progress in EVS-related activities and assessments.
8. Supporting the school’s sustainability initiatives by contributing to waste reduction programs or green classroom projects.
9. Attending professional development workshops to stay updated on EVS teaching methodologies and environmental education trends.
10. Assisting in the supervision of EVS clubs or student-led environmental clubs within the school.

This role is ideal for someone who thrives in an interactive, project-based learning environment and is eager to contribute to Birla Open Minds International School’s commitment to nurturing environmentally conscious citizens. The position offers a supportive work culture where creativity and innovation in teaching are encouraged.
