Typical Working Week
The PGT Economics teacher spends the week preparing lesson plans that align with the curriculum and student needs. Daily lessons involve interactive teaching, using real‑world examples to explain micro and macro concepts. Between classes, the teacher reviews student work, updates attendance records, and collaborates with colleagues on interdisciplinary projects. The week also includes grading assignments, conducting quizzes, and providing feedback to students on their progress.
Recurring Responsibilities
Planning and delivering engaging Economics lessons that meet state standards and foster critical thinking. Maintaining accurate attendance and attendance reports. Conducting formative assessments and grading tests and homework in a timely manner. Participating in faculty meetings and curriculum discussions to improve teaching methods. Managing classroom behavior and creating a positive learning environment. Updating students’ academic records and communicating progress to parents during parent‑teacher interactions.
Periodic Responsibilities
Preparing and administering mid‑term and final examinations, ensuring fairness and adherence to examination protocols. Organizing and supervising economics‑related projects, debates, or field visits that enhance practical understanding. Coordinating with the school administration to plan annual academic events such as economics fairs or guest lectures. Updating lesson plans and teaching resources quarterly to incorporate new developments in the field. Attending professional development workshops or seminars to stay current with educational best practices and policy changes.
