Science Teaching – Primary Level
Role scope
Oxford Public School in Chainpur, Palamu seeks a Primary Teacher (PRT) to deliver Science instruction to classes I‑V. The position is full‑time and reports to the Head of Primary Section.
Day‑to‑day professional responsibilities
- Plan and conduct daily Science lessons in line with the school’s curriculum framework, ensuring concepts are presented in an age‑appropriate manner.
- Prepare teaching aids, simple experiments and demonstration models that illustrate basic scientific principles such as the five senses, plant life cycles, weather patterns and simple physical phenomena.
- Maintain a safe classroom environment during practical activities, supervising use of materials and ensuring compliance with safety guidelines.
- Record attendance, lesson outcomes and observations in the school’s registers.
- Communicate regularly with parents and guardians about student progress, classroom activities and any concerns related to Science learning.
Subject‑specific responsibilities
- Develop short inquiry‑based projects that encourage curiosity and observation skills among primary learners.
- Use visual aids, story‑telling and everyday examples to relate scientific ideas to students’ surroundings in Chainpur and the broader Palamu district.
- Assess student understanding through oral questioning, simple worksheets and practical demonstrations, providing constructive feedback to support improvement.
- Collaborate with teachers of other subjects to integrate cross‑curricular themes, such as linking Science with environmental awareness in Social Studies.
Assessment, planning and student support
- Design formative assessments aligned with lesson objectives and analyse results to identify learning gaps.
- Offer remedial support or enrichment activities for students who need additional help or who show advanced interest.
- Participate in staff meetings, school events and professional development sessions organized by the school.
Qualification and experience requirements
- Graduate degree in any discipline.
- Minimum of two years’ experience teaching Science at the primary level.
Salary and location
- Monthly remuneration ranges from Rs. 14,000 to Rs. 30,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
- Position based in Chainpur, Palamu, Jharkhand (Tier 4 location).
