What You Will Do
Oversee the daily operations of the school transport fleet, including vehicle deployment, route schedules, and staff assignments. Verify that all buses meet safety standards and display valid permits under Karnataka Motor Vehicles rules. Conduct regular checks on vehicle fitness and maintain logbooks for each trip.
Manage a team of drivers, conductors, and support staff, ensuring they follow the school’s transport protocols and code of conduct. Organize driver training sessions on defensive driving, first aid, and student safety every quarter. Address staff grievances and attendance issues promptly to maintain service consistency.
Plan efficient bus routes across Bengaluru Urban to minimize travel time and fuel consumption. Coordinate with parents and class teachers to handle route changes or pickup adjustments during emergencies or holidays. Keep a real-time tracking system updated and share location updates with the school management.
Monitor fuel consumption, maintenance schedules, and repair bills to keep transport costs within budget. Prepare monthly transport reports on expenses, vehicle utilization, and incident records for the principal. Recommend procurement of new buses or equipment based on student enrollment trends.
Handle student discipline during transit, including seating arrangements, behavior monitoring, and emergency protocols. Work closely with the school’s security team to manage entry and exit points at bus stops and school gates. Ensure all transport staff wear uniforms and ID cards while on duty.
Maintain records of student attendance on buses, accidents, breakdowns, and parent feedback in a digital log. Report serious incidents to the school management immediately and prepare detailed statements for insurance purposes. Conduct surprise inspections of buses and staff to uphold service quality.
Coordinate with local traffic police and RTO authorities during school fairs, sports days, or exam days. Ensure safe transportation during field trips, picnics, and inter-school events. Keep emergency contact lists updated and conduct mock drills for evacuation and accident response.
Who Can Apply
Graduates with at least three years of experience in school transport management, fleet operations, or logistics are eligible. Prior experience in a senior transport role within an educational institution is preferred. Knowledge of Karnataka transport laws and basic computer skills are necessary.
Familiarity with GPS tracking systems, route optimization software, and student safety protocols is an advantage. Candidates should have strong communication skills in English and Kannada to interact with drivers, parents, and school staff.
