Key Responsibilities
Teach undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Data Science, including machine learning, data visualization, and statistical computing. Prepare curriculum aligned with AICTE and UGC standards.
Engage in high-impact research in domains such as big data analytics, predictive modeling, and AI applications. Publish findings in Scopus and Web of Science indexed journals.
Guide students in capstone projects, internships, and industry collaborations. Mentor final-year projects with real-world datasets and problem statements.
Apply for research grants from DST, AICTE, or industry partners. Lead or contribute to funded projects under Shri Madhwa Vadiraja Institute Of Technology & Management’s research centers.
Organize workshops and seminars on emerging tools like Python, R, TensorFlow, and cloud platforms. Collaborate with local tech companies in Udupi and Mangaluru for applied research.
Contribute to curriculum design for new programs in Data Science and Business Analytics. Review and update syllabi based on industry trends and feedback.
Participate in academic committees, including board of studies and research councils. Serve as a member of departmental research groups and innovation cells.
Supervise doctoral students in their thesis work, from proposal to defense. Evaluate Ph.D. theses and serve on examination panels as per UGC norms.
Build partnerships with national and international universities for joint research and student exchange. Represent the institution at conferences and technical forums.
Required Qualifications
A Ph.D. in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, or a closely related field is mandatory. Candidates with post-doctoral research or industry experience will be preferred.
A valid UGC-NET with JRF or equivalent qualification like CSIR-NET or SET is required if Ph.D. is not completed. NET-qualified candidates must complete Ph.D. within five years as per UGC regulations.
Minimum one year of teaching or industry experience in data science or analytics is expected. Practical exposure to tools such as SQL, Hadoop, Spark, and Python libraries is desirable.
Research Opportunities
