ASSISTANT PROFESSOR - Artificial Intelligence in Udupi, Karnataka | University Recruitment
Role Summary
Shri Madhwa Vadiraja Institute Of Technology & Management invites applications for the position of Assistant Professor in Artificial Intelligence. The Department of Computer Science & Engineering is expanding its research footprint in machine learning, deep learning, and intelligent systems. Faculty publications in Scopus/WoS indexed journals and funded projects under DST, AICTE, and VGST are encouraged.
What You Will Do
Teach undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Artificial Intelligence, including neural networks, natural language processing, and computer vision. Mentor B.Tech and M.Tech students in AI project development and capstone work at Shri Madhwa Vadiraja Institute Of Technology & Management.
Publish original research in peer-reviewed journals and present findings at national and international conferences in AI. Contribute to curriculum design and update lab infrastructure for AI experiments.
Guide doctoral scholars in AI specializations and serve on Ph.D. committees within the university. Evaluate theses and participate in viva voce examinations for AI-related dissertations.
Eligibility Criteria
A Ph.D. in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, or a closely related discipline from a recognized university is mandatory. A minimum of one year of post-Ph.D. teaching or research experience is preferred.
Candidates without a Ph.D. may apply if they have qualified UGC-NET/JRF with a Master’s in AI or related fields and two years of experience. NET/SLET qualified candidates will be considered as per UGC norms for Assistant Professor roles.
Research & Publications
Shri Madhwa Vadiraja Institute Of Technology & Management supports collaborative AI projects with local industries in Udupi and Mangalore. Faculty can apply for seed grants up to Rs.3,00,000 for exploratory AI research.
Encourage publication in Q1/Q2 journals indexed in Scopus or Web of Science. Co-author papers with students and industry partners to strengthen applied AI research output.
Research Leadership
Supervise Ph.D. students in AI domains such as reinforcement learning, explainable AI, and edge intelligence. Serve as external examiner for AI theses at other universities in Karnataka.
Participate in thesis evaluations and doctoral progress reviews for AI candidates. Represent the department in national AI consortia and funding agency meetings.

The monthly salary for the Artificial Intelligence Assistant Professor position ranges from Rs.30,000 to Rs.50,000 as per UGC norms. Additional research grants and conference travel support are available based on project performance.
