What You Will Do
As a PGT Geography Teacher, your duties will include:
- Preparing and delivering lessons that cater to the needs of all students, including those with special needs.
- Developing and implementing engaging lesson plans that incorporate a range of teaching methods, including group work, presentations, and field trips.
- Encouraging students to develop a critical thinking approach to Geography, analyzing maps, data, and other resources to understand the subject in-depth.
- Creating a safe and supportive learning environment that promotes respect, empathy, and inclusivity among students.
- Setting achievable goals and providing constructive feedback to students to help them improve their understanding of Geography.
- Collaborating with colleagues to develop a shared understanding of the curriculum and to plan interdisciplinary projects and activities.
- Participating in professional development opportunities to stay up-to-date with the latest developments in Geography education.
- Maintaining accurate records of student progress and attendance, and communicating regularly with parents and guardians.
Eligibility Criteria
To be considered for this role, you must have:
- A Master's degree in Geography or a related subject from a recognized university.
- A B.Ed./D.El.Ed. qualification or equivalent.
- A minimum of 2 years of experience teaching Geography in a school setting.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, colleagues, and parents.
- A commitment to continuing professional development and staying up-to-date with the latest developments in Geography education.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with curriculum development and implementation.
- Familiarity with digital tools and technologies, including GIS and mapping software.
- A passion for Geography and a desire to inspire students to learn more about the subject.
