Responsibilities
The teacher will plan, prepare and conduct engaging physical education classes that align with the school’s academic calendar and national standards. Lessons will cover a range of sports, fitness activities and health education, encouraging participation, teamwork and fair play among students. Regular assessment of student progress, maintenance of records and feedback to parents and senior staff form an integral part of the daily routine.
Beyond classroom teaching, the role includes organising inter‑school competitions, intra‑school sports festivals and co‑curricular events that showcase student talent. The teacher will also collaborate with the school’s health and counseling teams to promote wellness programs and ensure safety protocols are observed during all physical activities. Mentoring junior staff and contributing ideas for curriculum enrichment are expected.
In addition, the teacher will manage equipment, maintain the sports facilities, and ensure that all activities comply with safety guidelines. Participation in staff meetings, professional development workshops and community outreach initiatives will be required to keep the department aligned with best practices.
Qualification and experience
Candidates must hold a postgraduate qualification in Physical Education, such as M.Sc Physical Education, M.P.Ed or an equivalent degree, along with a B.Ed or D.El.Ed. While TET/CTET is not mandatory, a valid teaching eligibility certificate will be considered an advantage. A minimum of two years of teaching experience in a school setting, preferably at the secondary level, is required. Experience in organising sports events and handling a variety of games is essential.
The applicant should demonstrate strong communication skills, the ability to motivate adolescents, and a commitment to fostering an inclusive, active learning environment. Familiarity with modern teaching aids, digital tools for fitness tracking and a proactive approach to student health are highly valued.
