Role Summary
The TGT Biology Teacher vacancy in Thane involves teaching Grades 6 to 10 as per Maharashtra State Board syllabus. You will plan daily lessons, set up lab demonstrations, and conduct formative assessments every fortnight. The role includes mentoring students for Olympiads and guiding the school’s eco-club activities.
What You Will Do
Prepare clear learning outcomes for each Biology topic and share them with students at the start of every chapter.
Conduct at least two hands-on lab sessions every week using locally available specimens and low-cost materials.
Assign weekly worksheets and short quizzes to track understanding before moving to new concepts.
Organize monthly field trips to nearby gardens or water bodies to reinforce ecology and biodiversity topics.
Collaborate with the science team to align practical work with theory covered in class.
Mentor 15-20 students as their class teacher, handling attendance, conduct, and monthly progress reports.
Participate in teacher training sessions and share best practices in Biology pedagogy.
Contribute to the school’s annual science magazine by editing student articles and photographs.
Eligibility Criteria
Postgraduate degree in Zoology, Botany, Life Sciences, or Biotechnology from a recognized university.
Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) or Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed) with Biology as a teaching subject.
Minimum two years of Biology teaching experience in a secondary school.
Preference for candidates who have cleared TET or CTET.
Familiarity with Maharashtra State Board textbooks and exam patterns is an added advantage.
