The reality of this role
Daily work involves preparing lesson plans, conducting classroom instruction, and guiding students through laboratory experiments. You will manage a class of 30 to 35 students, ensuring practical sessions on plant anatomy and ecology are engaging. Assessment of student progress and attendance tracking form part of the routine.
What you will actually do
1. Deliver interactive lectures on botany topics such as plant physiology, taxonomy, and horticulture.
2. Design and supervise lab work, including plant dissections and microscopy sessions.
3. Prepare and maintain a well‑organized classroom and lab environment.
4. Develop assessment materials: quizzes, assignments, and practical exams.
5. Provide individual guidance to students needing extra help.
6. Coordinate with the school science committee on extracurricular activities like garden projects.
7. Maintain accurate records of student performance and report to the principal.
8. Participate in faculty meetings to discuss curriculum updates.
Who can do this job
Post‑graduate in Botany or related field with a B.Ed or D.El.Ed is required. Four years of teaching experience at the secondary level is mandatory. TET/CTET is preferred but not compulsory.
