Business Studies (PGT) Vacancy in Dera Bassi, Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar, Punjab
SHIVALIK CONVENT SCHOOL Mohali
Job Description
What It Is Like Here
Shivalik Convent School Mohali is a tight-knit community where teachers and students move together through the academic year in Dera Bassi. The campus buzzes with small daily wins—students presenting case studies in the Business Studies lab, teachers swapping classroom strategies during tiffin breaks, and parents joining weekend workshops. You’ll find a culture that values quiet preparation as much as loud celebrations, whether it’s a parent-teacher meet or a mock stock-exchange activity.
Role Summary
The school needs a PGT Business Studies Teacher to anchor classes IX to XII in the Commerce stream. You will translate textbooks into real-world scenarios, coach students for Olympiads and board exams, and keep the department’s lesson plans aligned with CBSE updates. Your classroom will sit next to the commerce lab, so collaboration with the Accounts and Economics teams happens naturally.
Key Responsibilities
Plan and deliver engaging Business Studies lessons for classes IX to XII, ensuring coverage of the full CBSE syllabus.
Design project-based assignments such as business plan competitions and investor-pitch simulations.
Conduct weekly doubt-clearing sessions for Commerce stream students after regular school hours.
Organize quarterly guest talks by local entrepreneurs and bankers to connect theory with practice.
Collaborate with the Accounts teacher to co-supervise the school’s annual commerce exhibition.
Assess students through continuous evaluation, case-study tests, and mock board papers.
Mentor two class teachers in Commerce stream for parent meetings and report card discussions.
Attend monthly department meetings and contribute to the annual academic audit.
Eligibility Criteria
Postgraduate degree in Business Studies/Commerce/Management with minimum 55% marks.
B.Ed or D.El.Ed from a recognized institution.
Minimum four years of full-time teaching experience in senior secondary Commerce stream.
Familiarity with CBSE Business Studies syllabus and sample papers.
Preference for candidates who have handled Olympiads or board-coaching assignments.
Salary and Benefits
Rs.45,000 to Rs.55,000 per month, paid on the 1st of every month.
Government-mandated provident fund contribution.
Group medical insurance for self and dependents.
Annual festival bonus and mid-year performance incentive.
In-house training and curriculum review workshops every term.
