Jecrc University is inviting applications for the position of Associate Professor in Thermodynamics. The Department of Mechanical Engineering houses a vibrant research group working on thermal systems, energy conversion, and computational thermodynamics. Our faculty members have published in leading journals such as International Journal of Heat and Mass Transfer and Applied Thermal Engineering.
The research reputation of the department is reflected in ongoing collaborations with DRDO and CSIR labs in Rajasthan. Day-to-Day Duties
Teaching undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Thermodynamics, Fluid Mechanics, and Heat Transfer is a core responsibility. The Associate Professor will prepare lecture notes, problem sets, and laboratory manuals aligned with AICTE model curricula.
Leading research in applied thermodynamics, including renewable energy integration and waste heat recovery, is expected. Regular publication in Scopus-indexed journals and presentation at national conferences is mandatory.
Supervising M.Tech and Ph.D. students in their thesis work is a key duty. The faculty member will guide at least three doctoral candidates during the initial three-year period.
Required Qualifications
A Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering with specialization in Thermodynamics is mandatory for this Associate Professor position at Jecrc University. Post-doctoral research experience in thermal systems or energy conversion is highly preferred.
UGC-NET with JRF qualification is required if the Ph.D. is not completed. Minimum three years of teaching experience at the Assistant Professor level in a UGC-recognized university is necessary.
Publications in peer-reviewed journals indexed in Scopus or Web of Science are expected. The candidate must demonstrate a consistent record of research output over the past five years.
Academic Projects
Jecrc University encourages faculty to lead interdisciplinary projects funded by DST, MNRE, or industry partners. Current openings exist for projects on solar thermal storage and industrial process optimization in Rajasthan.
Collaborations with local industries such as Rajasthan Electronics and Instruments Limited (REIL) and Rajasthan Renewable Energy Corporation (RREC) provide practical research avenues. The university offers seed grants of up to Rs. 5 lakh for exploratory projects.
Faculty members are expected to publish at least two papers annually in journals with impact factor greater than 2.0. Participation in editorial boards of national journals is appreciated.
Research Leadership
Guiding doctoral students through their thesis work, including topic selection, literature review, and viva voce preparation, is a key responsibility. The Associate Professor will serve on Ph.D. committees at Jecrc University and external examiner panels.
Reviewing research proposals for funding agencies and journal manuscripts for international publishers forms part of academic service. The role includes mentoring junior faculty in research methodology and grant writing.
Serving as a subject expert in university committees such as Board of Studies and Doctoral Research Committee is expected. The faculty member will represent Jecrc University at national forums on thermal engineering.
Salary and Benefits
The monthly salary for this Associate Professor Thermodynamics position ranges from Rs.40,000 to Rs.70,000 as per UGC norms for Grade Pay Level 12. Additional research grants up to Rs. 3 lakh per year are available for approved projects.
Jecrc University provides accommodation on campus or a house rent allowance of Rs. 12,000 per month. Medical insurance coverage for the faculty member and dependents is included as part of the benefits package.
