Role Summary
The Department of Media Production at Jecrc University is looking for a senior academician to lead its growing research and teaching initiatives. Day-to-Day Duties
Design and deliver advanced courses in cinematography, editing, sound design, and interactive media for postgraduate students. Mentor students during capstone projects that often get shortlisted in national film festivals. Oversee the university’s in-house studio and post-production lab, ensuring equipment and software stay current with industry standards.
Publish original research in Scopus-indexed journals and present findings at international conferences on media technology and audience studies. Secure external funding through proposals to bodies like UGC, ICSSR, and industry partners. Guide doctoral scholars from proposal stage to thesis submission, including viva voce examinations.
Required Qualifications
A PhD in Media Studies, Film Production, or Digital Arts with a minimum of five years of teaching and research experience in a university setting. UGC-NET with JRF is mandatory; those without JRF may apply if they have at least eight years of experience as per UGC norms.
Post-doctoral research or industry experience in media production houses is highly desirable. Familiarity with Rajasthan’s media ecosystem—especially regional film and digital content—will be an added advantage for fieldwork and consultancy roles.
Academic Projects
Lead interdisciplinary projects that blend traditional storytelling with AI-driven content creation. Jecrc University encourages faculty to apply for UGC-MRP grants and industry-sponsored initiatives in virtual production and 360-degree filmmaking. Recent projects include a MoU with a Jaipur-based animation studio for a funded research lab on low-budget VFX pipelines.
Encourage students to publish co-authored papers in the university’s annual journal “Media Praxis.” Faculty members are expected to contribute at least two Scopus/WoS indexed papers every academic year to maintain the department’s research standing.
Doctoral Guidance
Supervise a minimum of five PhD scholars simultaneously, ensuring timely progress through regular review meetings. Serve as an external examiner for doctoral theses at other universities and participate in doctoral committees across Rajasthan. Jecrc University’s PhD regulations require at least one publication in a peer-reviewed journal before thesis submission.
Salary and Benefits
The monthly salary for the Professor position ranges from Rs.60,000 to Rs.89,000, as per UGC norms. Additional research grants are available for approved projects, including student assistantships and conference travel support.
