Role Overview
Sri R.m. Jain Matriculation School in Tiruvallur, Tamilnadu is looking for a full‑time PGT Political Science Teacher. The candidate will handle senior secondary classes, design engaging lessons and contribute to the school’s academic environment.
Key Responsibilities
Plan and deliver the Political Science curriculum for classes IX‑XII, using a mix of lectures, discussions and project‑based learning. Prepare lesson plans that align with the board syllabus and incorporate current affairs to make concepts relevant. Assess student performance through tests, assignments and presentations, and provide timely feedback.
Classroom Management
Maintain a disciplined yet encouraging classroom atmosphere. Use interactive teaching aids, multimedia resources and group activities to foster critical thinking. Address individual learning needs and support students preparing for competitive exams.
Co‑Curricular Involvement
Guide the school’s debate club, Model United Nations and related extracurricular activities. Mentor students for inter‑school competitions and assist in organizing seminars or guest lectures on political topics.
Collaboration and Reporting
Work closely with senior teachers and the Head of Department to coordinate interdisciplinary projects. Participate in staff meetings, share best practices and contribute to school development plans. Submit regular progress reports and maintain accurate attendance records.
Professional Development
Stay updated with the latest developments in political science education and pedagogy. Attend workshops, seminars or online courses as required, and share acquired knowledge with peers.
Typical Working Week
A typical week involves delivering 20‑22 periods of Political Science, preparing and marking assessments, and holding a minimum of two hours of extracurricular mentoring. Teachers also allocate time for lesson planning, grading, and departmental meetings.
Recurring Responsibilities
- Conduct daily lectures and interactive sessions.
- Design and evaluate class tests, quizzes and term examinations.
- Provide individual doubt‑clearing sessions.
- Update classroom displays and learning resources.
- Participate in weekly staff coordination meetings.
Periodic Responsibilities
- Organise and supervise annual political science exhibitions or mock parliament sessions.

Qualifications
Post‑graduate degree in Political Science or related discipline, with a B.Ed or D.El.Ed qualification. Minimum two years of teaching experience at the senior secondary level. TET/CTET is preferred but not mandatory.
Salary
Rs.35,000 - Rs.55,000 per month, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
