Job Description
PGT Economics Teacher Job in Kanpur Nagar, Uttar Pradesh | School Recruitment
The reality of this role
Teaching Economics at Billabong High International School means shaping how students see money, markets, and policy every day. You will handle Classes 11 and 12, run small seminars for board-exam batches, and keep practical examples ready from the Kanpur wholesale cloth market or the local dairy cooperatives. Lesson plans must align with the CBSE syllabus yet feel relevant to a UP teenager’s life.
What you will actually do
Prepare weekly micro-plans that map each chapter to CBSE blueprint and ICSE-style application tasks.
Conduct flipped-classroom sessions on demonetisation or GST using real bank statements and GST invoices.
Mark two cycles of unit tests and two sets of pre-board papers per term; upload marks on the school ERP within 48 hours.
Organise inter-house quiz on National Income or Inflation once per semester with house points.
Meet parents after every term-end to explain why a student’s balance sheet still shows red.
Update the Economics lab corner with RBI circulars, stock-market ticker, and UP budget highlights every month.
Collaborate with the commerce department to plan a mini-economic survey in Kanpur Sadar during summer projects.
Attend Wednesday staff meetings and contribute to the annual academic calendar draft.
Who can do this job
Postgraduate in Economics with B.Ed/D.El.Ed from a recognised university.
Minimum two years of teaching Economics to Classes 11-12 in a CBSE-affiliated school.
TET/CTET is not mandatory but will be considered.
What you need to bring
A knack for turning indifference into interest—think street food subsidies to explain price ceilings.
Patience for repeated clearing of doubts on elasticity and national income accounting.
Willingness to grade papers on weekends during exam season.
Familiarity with MS Excel and Google Classroom.
Ability to speak Hindi and English comfortably in class.
What you get in return
Rs.38,000 to Rs.70,000 per month based on experience and interview performance.
School transport or fuel reimbursement if you live outside Kanpur Sadar.
Group health insurance for the family from day one.
Quarterly professional development allowances for subject-specific workshops.
Access to the staff room coffee machine and a small library corner stocked with Datt & Sundharam and NCERT supplements.
How to apply
Send an email to careers@billabonghighkanpur.com with subject line “PGT Economics Teacher Vacancy in Kanpur Nagar”.
