Key Responsibilities
Plan and deliver a dynamic Art And Craft curriculum for classes 1 to 5 that aligns with CBSE guidelines and local cultural themes relevant to Varanasi. Curate monthly exhibitions and festivals that showcase student artwork across the school and community, building pride in creative expression. Mentor junior Art And Craft teachers and conduct weekly departmental meetings to share best practices and resource updates.
Develop age-appropriate lesson plans that include drawing, painting, clay modeling, and paper craft, with a focus on skill progression from basic to intermediate levels. Introduce digital art tools like basic graphic tablets and design software to prepare students for future learning pathways. Prepare students for inter-school art competitions and state-level exhibitions, ensuring representation from Orchid International School.
Monitor and assess student progress through practical assignments, rubric-based grading, and portfolio reviews every quarter. Collaborate with class teachers to integrate art into thematic units, reinforcing concepts learned in language, science, and social studies. Support the school’s annual day celebrations, Republic Day parades, and local festivals through themed art installations and student-led performances.
Required Qualifications
Graduation in Fine Arts, Visual Arts, or a related discipline from a recognized Indian university. B.Ed or D.El.Ed with Art And Craft as a teaching subject is mandatory for this PRT position. TET/CTET certification is preferred but not required; however, prior teaching experience in Uttar Pradesh schools is highly valued.
A minimum of two years of full-time teaching experience in Art And Craft for primary classes, preferably in CBSE-affiliated schools. Hands-on experience with clay, watercolors, collage, and recycled material art projects in classroom settings. Familiarity with child psychology and classroom management techniques for ages 6 to 11.
Strong portfolio of student artwork and evidence of successful participation in art exhibitions or competitions. Willingness to participate in professional development workshops and art education seminars conducted by state and national bodies. Residence in Varanasi or willingness to relocate within Uttar Pradesh for smooth school operations.
