About This Role
Tulas Institute invites applications for the position of Assistant Professor in Engineering Physics. What You Will Do
Teach core and elective courses at undergraduate and postgraduate levels in Engineering Physics. Prepare syllabi aligned with AICTE and UGC norms for Dehradun-based engineering programs.
Develop research proposals in alignment with Tulas Institute’s strategic priorities. Publish findings in peer-reviewed journals indexed in Scopus and Web of Science.
Guide B.Tech and M.Tech students in project work and dissertations. Supervise Ph.D. scholars registered under the university’s doctoral program in Engineering Physics.
Organize national workshops on advanced instrumentation and computational physics. Collaborate with industry partners for sponsored research in sensor technology and materials science.
Contribute to curriculum design for emerging areas like renewable energy physics and photonics. Mentor students participating in national competitions such as the Smart India Hackathon.
Engage in consultancy projects with local industries in Uttarakhand. Participate in university committees related to accreditation and academic audit.
Required Qualifications
A Ph.D. in Engineering Physics or Applied Physics from a recognized university is mandatory. Candidates with post-doctoral research experience will be given preference during selection.
Candidates without a Ph.D. must have qualified UGC-NET with JRF or CSIR-NET in Physical Sciences. Minimum one year of teaching or research experience in a university or reputed institution is required.
Preference will be given to candidates with publications in Q1 journals. Experience in handling government-funded projects under DST, SERB, or AICTE will be an added advantage.
Academic Projects
Tulas Institute encourages faculty to lead interdisciplinary projects that align with national priorities. Current opportunities include SERB-funded research on flexible electronics for space applications.
Collaborative projects with Dehradun-based DRDO laboratories are under discussion. Faculty are supported in securing seed grants from the university’s internal research fund.
Journal publications in high-impact venues are a key performance indicator. The university provides APC support for open-access publications in Scopus/WoS indexed journals.
Ph.D. Supervision
The Engineering Physics department at Tulas Institute currently supervises 8 doctoral students. New faculty are expected to guide at least two Ph.D. scholars within three years.
Thesis evaluation and viva voce coordination are part of the academic responsibilities. Faculty must ensure timely completion of doctoral work as per UGC guidelines.
Research scholars are encouraged to present their work at international conferences. Tulas Institute reimburses travel expenses for approved conference presentations.
Salary and Benefits
The position offers a consolidated monthly salary between Rs.40,000 and Rs.55,000 as per UGC norms. Additional research grants are available for approved projects.
