What You Will Do
Teach undergraduate and postgraduate courses in forestry including silviculture, forest ecology, wildlife management, and forest policy. Develop curriculum aligned with UGC norms and emerging trends in climate-resilient forestry practices.
Lead and participate in field-based research projects focusing on Himalayan biodiversity, afforestation techniques, and community forestry in Uttarakhand. Publish findings in peer-reviewed journals indexed in Scopus or Web of Science.
Supervise M.Sc. and Ph.D. students in forestry, guiding their thesis work from proposal to final submission. Engage in consultancy projects with state forest departments, private forestry firms, and international agencies working in the Himalayas.
Organize seminars, workshops, and field excursions for students and faculty to promote practical learning. Collaborate with national and international institutions on joint research publications and funded projects.
Contribute to the development of research labs and field stations for advanced forestry studies. Participate in university governance through departmental committees and academic councils.
Required Qualifications
A Ph.D. in Forestry or a closely related discipline from a recognized university is mandatory. Post-doctoral research experience in forest ecology, conservation biology, or sustainable forest management is highly desirable.
Candidates must have qualified UGC-NET with Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) or hold an equivalent qualification such as CSIR-NET or ICAR-NET. A minimum of 4 years of teaching or research experience in a university or research institution is required.
Publications in Scopus/WoS-indexed journals and prior experience in guiding M.Phil./Ph.D. students will be preferred. Familiarity with Himalayan forest ecosystems and policy frameworks in Uttarakhand is an added advantage.
