PROFESSOR - Big Data Analytics in Dehradun, Uttarakhand | University Recruitment
Job Overview

What You Will Do
Teach advanced courses such as Distributed Data Systems, Machine Learning for Big Data, and Cloud-based Analytics to postgraduate students at Tulas Institute. Develop and revise curricula aligned with UGC model syllabi and emerging industry standards in Dehradun.
Lead sponsored research projects in collaboration with local tech firms and government agencies on smart-city datasets and healthcare analytics. Publish findings in high-impact journals indexed in SCI/Scopus.
Guide doctoral students in their thesis work, set milestones, and conduct periodic reviews within the university’s research governance framework.
Organize workshops and guest lectures by industry experts to bridge the gap between classroom learning and field requirements in Uttarakhand.
Participate in curriculum design committees for new M.Tech and Ph.D. programmes in Data Science at Tulas Institute.
Engage with alumni networks to secure internships and project placements for students in Dehradun’s IT sector.
Present research outcomes at national and international conferences, including those organized by IEEE and ACM chapters in India.
Mentor junior faculty and co-supervise interdisciplinary projects with departments such as Mathematics and Electronics.
Contribute to institutional accreditations by maintaining updated records of research grants, patents, and publications.
Required Qualifications
Ph.D. in Computer Science, Data Science, or a closely related field from a recognized Indian university or foreign institution of equivalent standing. Post-doctoral research or industry experience in Big Data Analytics will be preferred.
UGC-NET with JRF qualification or equivalent SET/SLET score as per UGC regulations for direct recruitment to the Professor position at Tulas Institute.
Minimum six years of teaching and research experience in a university or reputed R&D organization, with at least three years at the Associate Professor level.
Demonstrated expertise through publications in Scopus-indexed journals and funded projects in scalable data systems or analytics.
Strong programming skills in Python, Scala, or Java, and familiarity with Hadoop, Spark, and cloud platforms like AWS or Azure.
Research Opportunities
Tulas Institute offers seed grants up to Rs. 5 lakh for exploratory Big Data projects and seed funding for proof-of-concept development. Faculty can apply for SERB Core Research Grants and DST’s Inspire Faculty Fellowships.
Collaborative opportunities exist with the Indian Institute of Remote Sensing in Dehradun for geospatial Big Data analysis and with local hospitals for clinical data mining projects.
