PROFESSOR - Engineering Physics in Dehradun, Uttarakhand | University Recruitment
About This Role
Tulas Institute invites applications for the position of Professor in Engineering Physics, a role central to the university’s expanding research footprint in applied sciences. The department maintains active collaborations with DRDO, CSIR and IITs, focusing on areas like nanotechnology, semiconductor physics and renewable energy materials. Key Responsibilities
Teach undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Engineering Physics, ensuring alignment with UGC model curricula and industry expectations in Dehradun’s technical ecosystem. Supervise MTech dissertations and guide final-year BTech projects, maintaining a balance between theoretical depth and practical relevance for local industries.
Drive sponsored research projects, targeting grants from SERB, UGC and state-level innovation funds to strengthen Tulas Institute’s research infrastructure. Publish findings in peer-reviewed journals indexed in Scopus and Web of Science, with a preference for open-access platforms to enhance visibility among national and international peers.
Contribute to curriculum design for new programmes in emerging domains such as quantum technologies and smart materials, aligning offerings with regional skill demands. Organize national seminars and workshops in collaboration with professional bodies like the Indian Physics Association, Dehradun chapter, to foster academic exchange.
Required Qualifications
A PhD in Engineering Physics or Applied Physics from a recognized university is mandatory, with a minimum of six years of teaching and research experience at the postgraduate level. Candidates with post-doctoral research experience and industry exposure in semiconductor fabrication or renewable energy storage will receive preference during selection.
UGC-NET with JRF or CSIR-NET qualification is required; those without NET but holding a PhD must demonstrate equivalent academic credentials through sustained publications and funded projects. Familiarity with AICTE norms and NAAC assessment frameworks will be an added advantage for institutional compliance.
Research Opportunities
