PROFESSOR - Industrial Engineering in Dehradun, Uttarakhand | University Recruitment
Role Summary
Tulas Institute’s Department of Industrial Engineering is expanding its research footprint in smart manufacturing, supply chain optimization, and Industry 4.0 technologies. The department has established collaborative partnerships with local manufacturing units in Uttarakhand’s SIDCUL industrial belt, enabling applied research that feeds directly into regional industrial needs. Our faculty have published regularly in Scopus and Web of Science indexed journals, with several ongoing sponsored projects from DST and AICTE.
Day-to-Day Duties
Teach advanced courses such as Operations Research, Production Planning and Control, Quality Engineering, and Lean Six Sigma to undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral students at Tulas Institute. Develop and revise curricula in line with AICTE and UGC norms, ensuring alignment with industry standards and emerging technologies. Mentor students in capstone projects and industrial internships across Dehradun’s manufacturing and logistics clusters.
Lead sponsored research projects in areas like predictive maintenance, additive manufacturing, and circular economy practices relevant to Uttarakhand’s small and medium enterprises. Publish original research in high-impact international journals and present findings at national and international conferences. Secure external research grants from agencies such as DST, SERB, or industry partners to fund laboratories and student research assistants.
Guide Ph.D. scholars registered at Tulas Institute, from proposal development to thesis submission and defense. Serve on university committees including board of studies, academic council, and doctoral review boards. Engage with industry through consultancy assignments, workshops, and joint laboratories in SIDCUL, Haridwar.
Who Can Apply
A Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering, Production Engineering, or a closely allied discipline from an AICTE/UGC-recognized university is mandatory. Post-doctoral research experience or industry R&D exposure in manufacturing systems will be preferred. Candidates with UGC-NET/JRF or equivalent qualification will receive additional consideration if the Ph.D. requirement is met.
Minimum six years of teaching and research experience at the level of Assistant Professor or above is required. Experience in guiding doctoral students and publishing in Scopus/WoS indexed journals is expected. Familiarity with AICTE model curriculum and outcome-based education frameworks is desirable.
Research & Publications
Collaborate with faculty across Tulas Institute’s engineering and management schools on interdisciplinary projects in Industry 4.0, sustainability, and digital supply chains. Pursue funding opportunities through DST, SERB, and industrial CSR initiatives to upgrade labs and student research facilities in Dehradun. Encourage student participation in national competitions like Smart India Hackathon and SAE Baja to strengthen industry linkages.
Maintain a consistent publication record in journals indexed in Scopus and Web of Science, with at least five publications in the last three years. Aim for publications in journals ranked A*/A by Scopus CiteScore in areas such as lean systems, automation, and energy-efficient manufacturing. Present research at reputed national and international conferences including IISE, ASQ, and IFAC events.
Ph.D. Supervision
Guide doctoral students through all stages of research, from topic selection and literature review to data collection, analysis, and thesis defense. Ensure timely progress of scholars by conducting periodic reviews and aligning research with contemporary industrial challenges in Uttarakhand. Serve as internal examiner for Ph.D. theses and as external examiner for universities across North India.
Encourage students to publish their findings in peer-reviewed journals and to participate in conferences. Support scholars in applying for research fellowships and travel grants from UGC, CSIR, or industry partners. Foster a culture of innovation by guiding students in patent filing and technology transfer activities.
Perks and Pay
The position offers a consolidated monthly salary between Rs.70,000 and Rs.120,000 as per UGC norms, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Additional research grants are available through Tulas Institute’s internal seed fund and external funding agencies to support conferences, publications, and laboratory upgrades.
Faculty are eligible for subsidized on-campus housing, professional development allowances for attending international conferences, and comprehensive health insurance coverage for the employee and dependents.
