About This Role
The Department of Economics at Tulas Institute is expanding its research footprint in Managerial Economics, a key area shaping business decision-making in India’s dynamic economy. As a Professor of Managerial Economics, you will lead advanced courses, mentor junior faculty, and drive collaborative research with corporate partners in the Himalayan region.
Key Responsibilities
Design and deliver graduate and postgraduate courses in Managerial Economics, including microeconomic theory for managers, decision analysis under uncertainty, and competitive strategy. Conduct field-based studies on cost structures and pricing strategies of Himalayan enterprises, feeding insights directly into classroom discussions. Guide final-year MBA and M.Sc. Economics students in applied thesis projects on regional industrial clusters.
Publish original research in UGC-listed journals and reputed international outlets, with emphasis on empirical studies using data from Uttarakhand’s tourism, agriculture, and small-scale manufacturing sectors. Lead funded research projects on resource allocation in hilly terrains and present findings at national and international conferences. Collaborate with the Institute’s Centre for Sustainable Development to integrate managerial economics into sustainability reporting frameworks.
Contribute to curriculum redesign for the MBA programme at Tulas Institute, ensuring alignment with AICTE and UGC benchmarks. Organize annual symposia on Managerial Economics in the Himalayas, inviting practitioners from Rishikesh, Haridwar, and Dehradun to share real-world case studies. Supervise doctoral students registered under the Department of Economics, providing rigorous guidance on thesis structure and viva preparation.
Eligibility Criteria
A Ph.D. in Economics with specialization in Managerial Economics or closely allied fields is mandatory. Candidates must have at least six years of full-time teaching and research experience in a university or autonomous college after the Ph.D. Post-doctoral research or industry consulting in pricing and strategic decision-making is strongly preferred.
UGC-NET with JRF or equivalent qualification such as CSIR-NET or ICSSR Doctoral Fellowship is required if the Ph.D. was completed after 2010. Publications in peer-reviewed journals indexed in Scopus or Web of Science are expected, with a minimum of ten articles over the last six years. Prior experience in guiding M.Phil. dissertations will be an added advantage.
Research Opportunities
Tulas Institute offers seed grants of up to Rs.5 lakh for exploratory studies on managerial decision-making in the Himalayan context. What You Get
Salary for the position ranges from Rs.70,000 to Rs.120,000 per month as per UGC norms for Professor Grade Pay Level 14. Additional research grants of up to Rs.2 lakh per annum are available for approved projects, with reimbursement for field travel and data acquisition within India.
