TGT Sanskrit Teacher Job in Darjeeling, West Bengal | School Recruitment
The opportunity for an experienced educator
Gd Goenka School in Kurseong is looking for a dedicated TGT Sanskrit Teacher who can shape young minds and bring the ancient language to life. The right candidate will join a vibrant teaching community that values tradition and modernity side by side. If you have a passion for Sanskrit and two years of classroom experience, this is a chance to make an immediate impact in the hills of Darjeeling.
Leadership expectations and curriculum ownership
At Gd Goenka School, the Sanskrit department is more than a classroom; it is a bridge between heritage and contemporary learning. You will lead curriculum design for Grades 6 to 8, ensuring alignment with CBSE standards while integrating local cultural elements from Kurseong and Darjeeling. Mentoring junior faculty and conducting departmental workshops will be part of your role, fostering a collaborative environment.
Core responsibilities
Prepare and deliver engaging lesson plans for Sanskrit across middle school, using digital aids and interactive methods suitable for Kurseong’s diverse student body. Assess student progress through regular tests, projects, and oral recitations, providing constructive feedback to support improvement. Organize annual Sanskrit Week activities, including debates, shloka competitions, and storytelling sessions that connect students to regional traditions.
Collaborate with the language department to align Sanskrit vocabulary and grammar with Hindi and English lessons. Maintain accurate records of attendance, marks, and teaching plans as required by school policy. Participate in parent-teacher meetings to explain student progress and suggest ways to reinforce learning at home. Represent the school at inter-school Sanskrit competitions and cultural fests in Darjeeling and Siliguri.
What you bring to the table
You hold a postgraduate degree in Sanskrit with a B.Ed or D.El.Ed from a recognized institution. Two years of full-time teaching experience at the middle school level is essential, preferably in a residential or hill school environment. Familiarity with CBSE Sanskrit textbooks and proficiency in spoken Sanskrit will add value in this role.
Career growth opportunities
Gd Goenka School encourages professional development through in-house training and external workshops. Senior teachers may take on additional responsibilities such as leading language festivals or collaborating with universities for student enrichment programs. Long-term educators often transition into academic coordinators or subject heads after demonstrating consistent leadership.
Compensation and benefits
The TGT Sanskrit Teacher position offers a monthly salary between Rs.25,000 and Rs.45,000 based on qualifications and experience. Benefits include furnished staff quarters or house rent allowance, subsidized meals, and annual travel support for home visits. Health coverage and professional development grants are also provided.
Application process
Submit your updated CV, a one-page statement of purpose in Sanskrit or English, and scanned copies of mark sheets, certificates, and teaching experience letters via email. Shortlisted candidates will be invited for a demonstration lesson and an interview with the academic leadership in Kurseong. Final selection will be based on subject expertise and cultural fit within the school community.
