TGT Social Science Teacher Job in Kolkata, West Bengal | School Recruitment
The reality of this role
Teaching Social Science at The Crescent School Kolkata means handling a lively class of grades 6‑10, preparing daily lesson plans, and guiding discussions on history, geography and civics. You will spend time grading papers, supervising students during recess on Circus Avenue, and coordinating occasional field trips to museums or local heritage sites. The day also involves collaborating with other subject teachers to integrate interdisciplinary projects.
What you will actually do
- Deliver the prescribed Social Science curriculum as per state board guidelines.
- Create engaging worksheets, quizzes and project assignments that relate to Kolkata’s culture and history.
- Conduct regular class tests and evaluate student performance with clear feedback.
- Use audio‑visual aids and digital tools to make topics like the Indian Constitution vivid.
- Organize debates, model‑parliament sessions and map‑reading activities.
- Mentor a small group of students for extra‑curricular clubs such as History Club or Geography Walks.
- Attend faculty meetings and contribute ideas for school-wide academic initiatives.
- Maintain attendance registers, lesson logs and report cards accurately.
Who can do this job
A postgraduate degree in Social Science or a related field, along with B.Ed or D.El.Ed, is required. Candidates should have a minimum of four years of teaching experience in a school setting. CTET or TET qualification is preferred but not mandatory.
What you need to bring
Strong command of the NCERT Social Science textbooks and the ability to relate concepts to everyday life in West Bengal. Good communication skills, patience and a collaborative mindset are essential. Comfortable with basic ICT tools and willing to mentor students beyond the classroom.
