PGT Botany Teacher Job in Paschim Bardhaman, West Bengal | School Recruitment
The reality of this role
Teaching Botany to classes XI and XII at Burnpur Riverside School involves preparing laboratory sessions, guiding field trips to local wetlands, and marking assignments within tight school schedules. You will interact with students daily, answer their queries, and coordinate with the science department for interdisciplinary projects. The school environment is supportive, with regular parent‑teacher meetings and occasional extracurricular science fairs.
What you will actually do
- Design and deliver engaging Botany lessons as per the West Bengal Board syllabus.
- Conduct practical labs, demonstrate plant dissection, microscopy and field identification techniques.
- Prepare lesson plans, worksheets and assessment papers on a weekly basis.
- Evaluate student performance through tests, projects and viva voce, providing timely feedback.
- Organize and supervise Botany related excursions to nearby botanical gardens and farms.
- Mentor students for biology Olympiads and science clubs.
- Collaborate with fellow teachers to integrate Botany concepts into environmental studies and chemistry.
- Maintain laboratory inventory, ensure safety protocols and report any equipment issues.
Who can do this job
Candidates must hold a postgraduate degree in Botany or a related science and possess a B.Ed or D.El.Ed. TET/CTET qualification is preferred. A minimum of two years of teaching experience at the senior secondary level is required.
