This role focuses on fostering active learning through sports, games, and fitness activities tailored for students in a high-altitude environment. The position emphasizes engaging students with outdoor and indoor sports programs while ensuring safety and adherence to local weather conditions.
Daily responsibilities include conducting morning and afternoon physical education classes. You will organize and supervise games like football, basketball, and cricket, adapting rules to suit the school’s curriculum. Daily, you’ll also monitor students during recess and ensure they follow health-conscious routines. Keeping students motivated through fun drills and team-building activities is essential.
Regularly, you’ll prepare lesson plans aligned with the school’s physical education syllabus. Collaborate with the principal and head of the physical education department to refine programs based on student performance. Organize weekly sports meets and inter-house competitions to promote team spirit. Reviewing student participation records and suggesting improvements in fitness programs will also be part of your ongoing duties.
Periodically, you’ll lead outdoor expeditions and trekking sessions, considering the region’s challenging terrain. Attend sports training workshops or certifications to enhance teaching methods. Ensure all equipment is well-maintained and safe for use, especially given the remote location’s logistical challenges.
For this role, a graduate degree in Education with a B.Ed or D.El.Ed qualification is mandatory. Two years of teaching experience, preferably in a school setting, is required. While TET/CTET certification is not mandatory, it will be highly beneficial for this Physical Education Teacher position in Kargil.
The salary for this PRT Physical Education Teacher position at Oxford Heritage School is Rs.15,000 to Rs.28,000 per month, along with a location-specific allowance for the remote and challenging environment of Kargil.
