Role Summary
We are looking for an experienced and dynamic PGT Geography Teacher to lead the Geography department at St. Don Bosco School in Pakur, Jharkhand. The successful candidate will not only teach Geography at the senior secondary level but also mentor junior staff and contribute to the school's academic planning and governance.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, teach, and assess Geography classes at the senior secondary level, ensuring that students meet the board's expectations and achieve high results
- Develop and implement innovative Geography teaching methods and resources to cater to diverse learning styles and abilities
- Provide guidance and mentorship to junior Geography teachers, helping them to improve their teaching skills and subject knowledge
- Assist in the preparation of Geography curriculum and assessment materials for the school
- Conduct regular assessments and evaluations to monitor student progress and provide feedback to teachers
- Collaborate with other subject teachers to design and implement interdisciplinary projects and activities
- Participate in the school's academic planning and governance, contributing to the development of policies and procedures
- Represent the school at external events and conferences related to Geography education and curriculum development
- Develop and maintain relationships with parents and the local community to promote Geography education and the school's interests
- Stay updated with the latest developments in Geography education and incorporate them into the school's curriculum and teaching practices
Eligibility
To be considered for this role, you must have:
- A postgraduate degree in Geography or a related subject (M.A. Geography, M.Sc. Geography)
- A Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) degree or a Master of Education (M.Ed) degree
- At least 5 years of teaching experience, preferably in a senior secondary school
- A strong track record of achieving high results in Geography, preferably with a focus on board exam preparation
- A preference for NET or SET qualification in Geography or a related subject
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, teachers, and parents
