About This Role
The Geotechnical Engineering department at Cambridge Institute Of Technology is expanding its research footprint in Jharkhand’s soil mechanics and foundation engineering domains. Known for its industry-aligned curriculum and strong ties to mining and infrastructure sectors, the department regularly publishes in journals indexed by Scopus and Web of Science. The associate professor will anchor advanced courses, mentor young faculty, and lead sponsored research projects valued at up to Rs. 15 lakh per annum.
Day-To-Day Duties
Teach postgraduate courses in soil dynamics, slope stability, and ground improvement techniques to 30–40 students per batch.
Develop and deliver elective subjects such as geotechnical instrumentation and disaster-resistant design.
Supervise final-year B.Tech and M.Tech projects with a focus on Jharkhand-specific case studies.
Publish at least two Scopus-indexed papers every academic year in geotechnical engineering journals.
Guide three Ph.D. scholars and ensure timely completion of their field investigations in Ranchi’s varied soil profiles.
Organize two national workshops annually on geotechnical challenges in eastern India.
Collaborate with the Centre of Excellence for Disaster Mitigation on landslide risk mapping in the Chotanagpur plateau.
Serve as a reviewer for journals including the Indian Geotechnical Journal and Geotechnical Testing Journal.
Participate in curriculum revision committees to align courses with updated UGC model syllabi.
Eligibility Criteria
Ph.D. in Geotechnical Engineering from a UGC-recognized university with a minimum 55% marks or equivalent grade.
Post-doctoral research or industry experience in foundation engineering is highly desirable.
UGC-NET with JRF qualification or CSIR-NET in Engineering Sciences is mandatory.
Minimum two years of teaching or research experience in a university after Ph.D.
Candidates with publications in Q1/Q2 journals and patents in geotechnical instrumentation will receive preference.
Research Opportunities
