Position Title: Post Graduate Teacher (PGT) – English

Location: Tier 2 City, General Education School

Reports to: Principal / Vice-Principal (Academic)

Job Overview

The Post Graduate Teacher (PGT) – English shall be responsible for delivering high-quality English language instruction to students in Grades 11 and 12 within a structured and compliant educational environment. The incumbent shall adhere to the National Curriculum Framework (NCF) 2005, CBSE/State Board guidelines, and the Right to Education (RTE) Act, 2009, as applicable. The role demands pedagogical excellence, classroom management, student assessment, and continuous professional development. The teacher shall maintain a safe, inclusive, and intellectually stimulating learning environment in accordance with the school’s mission and statutory obligations.

Minimum Requirements

1. Educational Qualification: Master’s degree in English (MA English) from a recognized university with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks.
2. Teaching Qualification: B.Ed. or equivalent teacher training qualification from an NCTE-recognized institution.
3. Experience: Minimum 1 year of teaching English at the senior secondary level (Grades 11–12) in a recognized school.
4. Certification: Valid teaching eligibility certificate (if applicable under state norms) or compliance with local regulatory requirements.
5. Language Proficiency: Fluent in English (written and spoken); proficiency in Hindi and/or local language preferred.
6. Computer Literacy: Basic proficiency in MS Office, email communication, and digital learning platforms.
7. Clearance: No criminal record; valid police verification; adherence to child protection policies.

Student Profile

Minimum:
- Students enrolled in Grades 11–12 with diverse academic backgrounds.
- English language proficiency ranging from intermediate to advanced levels.

Preferred:
- Students preparing for CBSE/State Board examinations.
- Learners with interest in literature, writing, and communication skills.
- Multilingual learners with exposure to regional and global English usage.

Performance Expectations

1. Instructional Delivery:
- Plan and deliver lessons aligned with the prescribed syllabus.
- Use diverse teaching strategies (lecture, discussion, group work, project-based learning).
- Integrate grammar, literature, writing, and communication skills.

2. Assessment and Evaluation:
- Conduct formative and summative assessments in compliance with board norms.
- Design question papers, assignments, and projects.
- Provide timely feedback and maintain accurate academic records.

3. Classroom Management:
- Maintain discipline, decorum, and a positive learning environment.
- Implement inclusive practices for students with varied learning needs.

4. Professional Development:
- Participate in faculty development programs, workshops, and training.
- Stay updated with curriculum changes, pedagogical trends, and assessment reforms.

5. School Responsibilities:
- Attend staff meetings, parent-teacher conferences, and school events.
- Contribute to co-curricular activities (debates, elocution, literary clubs).
- Support school initiatives in safety, hygiene, and student welfare.

6. Compliance and Ethics:
- Adhere to the school’s code of conduct and child protection policies.

Evaluation Criteria

Salary and Compensation

1. Basic Salary: INR 30,000 per month (as per school pay scale for PGT – English in Tier 2 location).
2. House Rent Allowance (HRA): INR 6,000 per month (subject to actual rent submission and tax compliance).
3. Transport Allowance: INR 1,500 per month (if applicable).
4. Medical Reimbursement: INR 12,000 per annum (on submission of bills).
5. Leave Encashment: As per school policy (up to 10 days per annum).
6. Provident Fund: Contribution of 12% by employee and 12% by employer.
7. Gratuity: As per Payment of Gratuity Act, 1972 (after 5 years of service).
8. Professional Development Allowance: INR 5,000 per annum for approved courses.
9. Paid Leave: 20 days of casual leave, 10 days of medical leave, and 15 days of summer/winter break as per school calendar.
