History (PRT) Vacancy in Rahe, Ranchi, Jharkhand
St. Michael’s School
Job Description
What It Is Like Here
St. Michael’s School sits in Rahe, a quiet corner of Ranchi where families value discipline and curiosity alike. Teachers here work in small teams, planning together across grades rather than in isolated classrooms. The campus is green and close to local markets, so students often bring home-grown examples to class discussions about ancient trade routes.
Role Summary
A full-time PRT History Teacher is needed to guide Grades 1–5 through stories that connect Ranchi’s tribal past to India’s wider narrative. The role blends lesson delivery with activity-based learning, ensuring every child sees history as more than dates on a page.
What You Will Do
Create monthly timelines with stickers and maps that let young learners trace the Mauryan empire to Jharkhand’s own megaliths.
Run morning circle discussions where students compare British trade records with local oral histories they collect from elders.
Organize quarterly heritage walks around Ranchi’s old churches and tribal art sites, then have children write short diaries in English.
Design low-cost props—clay seals, cloth maps—using materials from the school’s eco-club to make Harappan civilisation tangible.
Collaborate with the art teacher to turn Mughal miniature styles into Grade 4 sketchbook projects.
Hold Friday “time-capsule” sessions where children bury handwritten letters to their future selves about what freedom means to them.
Maintain a simple class blog updated by students, photographing their projects and adding captions in Hindi and English.
Attend weekly grade-level meetings at St. Michael’s School to align history themes with the school’s value-based curriculum.
Eligibility Criteria
Graduate in History or Social Science with a B.Ed or D.El.Ed degree from a recognised Indian institution.
Two years of classroom experience in primary history teaching preferred.
Familiarity with local Jharkhand history is an added advantage.
TET or CTET certification is welcome but not mandatory.
Salary and Benefits
The monthly salary ranges from Rs.12,000 to Rs.24,000 based on experience and qualifications.
Provident fund and group medical insurance for full-time staff.
School transport support for teachers living in central Ranchi.
Free access to the staff library and in-house professional development workshops at St. Michael’s School.
