Job Overview
The Psychological Counsellor will lead the student support services at Sbm Senior Secondary School in Kanke, Ranchi. This role involves managing the counselling department, guiding students through academic and personal challenges, and collaborating with school leadership to strengthen mental health initiatives.
The Psychological Counsellor will design programs that address behavioural concerns and emotional well-being across all classes. Reporting directly to the Principal, the position plays a key role in shaping the school’s approach to student development and community engagement.
Key Responsibilities
Assess students’ psychological needs through individual sessions and group workshops. Document cases carefully and recommend interventions to teachers and parents for timely support. Work closely with Sbm Senior Secondary School’s leadership to align counselling services with school policies.
Organise awareness programs on stress management, cyber safety, and career guidance. Conduct training sessions for staff on recognising early signs of distress among students. Maintain confidentiality while keeping the Principal informed of critical issues that may impact school climate.
Supervise the counselling team and assign caseloads based on student requirements. Monitor progress of ongoing cases and adjust strategies as needed. Ensure all records are updated in the school’s student management system for easy reference.
Coordinate with external psychologists or therapists when specialised care is required. Liaise with NGOs and government agencies for resource-sharing opportunities. Represent Sbm Senior Secondary School at local mental health forums to build partnerships.
Required Qualifications
Postgraduate degree in Psychology, Counselling Psychology, or Child Psychology from a recognised university. Minimum two years of experience in school or educational counselling, preferably in Jharkhand.
Prior work in a school setting with exposure to adolescent mental health is essential. Familiarity with basic counselling techniques and case documentation will be advantageous.
