Job Description: Trained Graduate Teacher (TGT) – Dance

Position Overview
The Trained Graduate Teacher (Dance) will deliver a structured, inclusive, and standards-aligned dance curriculum to students in Grades 6–10 at a Tier 3 general education school. The role demands pedagogical excellence, artistic leadership, and compliance with national and state educational regulations. The incumbent will foster a creative, safe, and engaging learning environment while supporting the school’s holistic development objectives.

Key Responsibilities

Instructional Duties
Design and implement age-appropriate dance curricula aligned with CBSE/State Board guidelines and National Curriculum Framework for School Education (NCFSE) 2023.
Develop semester-wise lesson plans integrating classical, contemporary, folk, and global dance forms as per prescribed syllabus.
Conduct 5–6 instructional periods per week (40 minutes each) with structured progression in technique, choreography, and performance skills.
Assess student progress through formative and summative evaluations, including practical exams, viva voce, and portfolio assessments.
Maintain accurate attendance, assessment, and anecdotal records in compliance with Right to Education (RTE) Act, 2009 and CBSE/State Board directives.
Ensure 100% coverage of prescribed syllabus with documented evidence of completion prior to end-term assessments.

Co-curricular and Community Engagement
Choreograph and direct annual school dance performances (minimum two per academic year).
Lead school dance teams for inter-school competitions and cultural festivals.
Organize open-house dance showcases and parent-teacher presentations.
Collaborate with music, art, and physical education departments to integrate cross-disciplinary learning.
Participate in school assemblies, morning assemblies, and special events requiring dance presentations.
Contribute to school newsletter, website, and social media content related to cultural activities.

Administrative and Compliance Duties
Ensure all dance activities comply with the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012 and CBSE circulars on safety in school activities.
Maintain inventory of dance equipment, costumes, and sound systems; submit quarterly usage and maintenance reports.
Follow fire safety norms during rehearsals and performances as per the National Building Code of India.
Submit monthly activity reports to the Principal and academic coordinator.
Participate in parent-teacher meetings, staff meetings, and professional development programs.
Ensure strict adherence to the school’s anti-bullying and anti-discrimination policy.

Student Welfare and Inclusion
Identify students with special needs and adapt dance activities in consultation with the Inclusive Education Coordinator.
Promote gender sensitivity, body positivity, and cultural inclusivity through repertoire selection and instructional language.
Ensure participation of all students regardless of socio-economic background, caste, religion, or physical ability.

Qualification and Eligibility

Minimum Qualification
Graduation in any discipline from a recognized university.
Diploma or Certification in Dance (minimum 1 year duration) from a recognized institution.
Minimum 1 year of teaching or professional dance instruction experience (including freelance, studio, or community teaching).

Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Dance or Performing Arts.
Master’s degree in Dance or related field.
Trained in Bharatanatyam, Kathak, Odissi, Manipuri, or contemporary dance forms.
Certification in Yoga, Aerobics, or Physical Education.
Experience in inclusive dance pedagogy or therapeutic dance.
Familiarity with digital tools for choreography (e.g., DanceForms, Adobe Premiere Rush).

Certification Requirements
Valid TET (Teacher Eligibility Test) not mandatory as per CBSE guidelines for TGT posts in arts subjects.
However, candidates must possess a state-recognized teacher training certificate (e.g., D.El.Ed., B.Ed. Arts, or equivalent) or minimum 1-year diploma in dance education from a government-approved institute.

Compensation Details

Basic Salary
Grade Pay: As per 7th Central Pay Commission (CPC) for TGT (Arts) in Tier 3 cities.
Starting Basic: ₹29,200 per month (as per CBSE pay scale for TGT in Level 7).

Allowances (Subject to applicable taxes)
House Rent Allowance (HRA): 8–10% of Basic (depending on city category)
Dearness Allowance (DA): 46% of Basic (as per current government rates)
Transport Allowance: ₹1,200 per month (for self)
Children Education Allowance: ₹2,250 per quarter per child (max two children)
Medical Reimbursement: Up to ₹25,000 per annum (for self and dependents)
Leave Travel Concession (LTC): Once in a block of 4 years (as per government norms)
Professional Development Allowance: ₹15,000 per annum (for courses, workshops, and certifications)
