Assam Rifles Public School

Welcome to Assam Rifles Public School, a residential co‑educational community set amid the rolling hills of Laitkroh Khatarshnong in East Khasi Hills, Meghalaya. Our campus stretches over two hundred acres of fresh, pine‑scented land that looks out over the Shillong Valley, and the air here carries the quiet confidence of a school that has been shaping young lives since 1980. It was founded by Lt. Gen. Sushil Kumar, then Director General of Assam Rifles, and today we operate under the careful guidance of the Assam Rifles Welfare Education Society and the Assam Rifles Public School Society. All our classes follow the CBSE curriculum, so you’ll find a solid framework that lets both teachers and students explore the subjects deeply while staying connected to national standards.

The students at ARPS are a mix of children from defence families and the local community, bringing together a variety of backgrounds and perspectives. Because we are a residential school, the learning day extends beyond the classroom; evenings often find students in the library, in art studios, or on the sports fields that have earned us a reputation for a strong athletic program. Our teachers are encouraged to move beyond textbook teaching, guiding inquiry and discussion, and we have a modest but well‑equipped laboratory and computer suite that support hands‑on projects. The atmosphere is one of quiet determination—students are expected to give their best, but they are also given the space to discover what truly interests them.

For a teacher, this means you get to work in a place where the natural surroundings inspire creativity, where the close‑knit residential setting lets you know each student personally, and where you have the freedom to try new methods without the pressure of a bustling city school. The community is supportive, the administration values professional growth, and the rhythm of life here—morning walks through misty hills, afternoons on well‑maintained courts, evenings spent planning with colleagues—creates a balance that many find hard to match elsewhere. If you are looking for a setting that combines solid academic standards with a genuine sense of belonging, Assam Rifles Public School
