Sanskrit (TGT) Vacancy in Angul, Odisha
Delhi Public School - Nalco
Job Description
What It Is Like Here
At Delhi Public School - Nalco in Angul, the academic year moves in sync with the seasons—monsoon brings fresh energy to campus, winter sees focused study groups under the library lights, and summer ends with students presenting Sanskrit skits under the mango grove. Teachers here don’t work in silos; the staff room buzzes with shared lesson plans, weekend Sanskrit workshops, and impromptu debates on how to make Vedic math engaging for Grade 8. Angul’s small-city rhythm means parents know teachers by name, and the school’s proximity to Nalco Township ensures a tight-knit community where every cultural festival becomes a classroom extension.
Role Summary
The TGT Sanskrit Teacher will lead Grades 6 to 8 in Sanskrit language, literature, and cultural appreciation, ensuring alignment with CBSE curriculum while integrating local Odia context where relevant. The role demands a postgraduate degree in Sanskrit and a minimum of three years of classroom experience at the secondary level. Delhi Public School - Nalco values teachers who can blend traditional pedagogy with interactive methods—think storytelling through Panchatantra, chanting sessions with meaning, and project-based learning around Sanskrit’s influence on Odia vocabulary.
Day-to-Day Duties
Plan and deliver daily Sanskrit lessons for three sections, preparing notes, worksheets, and digital flashcards aligned to CBSE milestones. Conduct weekly chanting assemblies where students recite shlokas with correct intonation and gesture—this is non-negotiable for pronunciation mastery. Organize monthly Sanskrit assemblies where students perform short plays or debates in Sanskrit, often tying themes to local festivals like Raja or Ratha Yatra. Coordinate with the Hindi and English departments to highlight shared etymological roots, reinforcing cross-subject learning. Mentor 15 students as class guardian, tracking academic progress and cultural participation in monthly reviews. Prepare students for inter-school Sanskrit competitions and Olympiads, drilling them in sloka recitation and essay writing in Sanskrit. Collaborate with the art teacher to design murals featuring Sanskrit verses on school walls, making language visible beyond textbooks. Maintain a Sanskrit corner in the library with graded readers, comics, and audio-visual resources for self-study.
Eligibility Criteria
Postgraduate degree in Sanskrit with a minimum of 50% marks from a recognized university. B.Ed or D.El.Ed from a NCTE-recognized institution is mandatory; TET/CTET is desirable but not required. Three years of full-time teaching experience in Sanskrit at the secondary level, preferably in a CBSE-affiliated school. Fluency in spoken Sanskrit is preferred—ability to converse beyond classroom recitation will be tested during demonstration lessons. Familiarity with digital tools like Google Classroom, Canva, and basic video editing apps for creating Sanskrit content is a plus.
What You Get
A full-time position at Delhi Public School - Nalco offering Rs.25,000 to Rs.50,000 per month based on experience and qualifications. The salary is disbursed on the 1st of every month, with annual increments aligned to performance and tenure. In addition, the school provides subsidized canteen facilities, access to the sports complex, and support for professional development through regional Sanskrit seminars and CBSE workshops.
