Physics (PGT) Vacancy in Keonjhar Sadar, Kendujhar, Odisha
St. Xavier High School
Job Description
St. Xavier High School sits on the edge of Keonjhar Sadar with classrooms that open onto the morning mist rolling over the hills. Teachers here keep their doors open—literally and figuratively—so a quick discussion on projectile motion in the corridor can turn into a mini-lab on the sports ground. The department vibe is less hierarchy, more huddle: senior physics teachers mentor newcomers, lab technicians double as demonstrators, and the principal still takes the last bench in the physics lab during parent-teacher meets.
About This Role
The PGT Physics Teacher Vacancy in Kendujhar is for a full-time post at St. Xavier High School. We need someone who can steer classes XI–XII through the thickets of electrostatics, modern physics, and the dreaded optics ray diagrams without losing the plot. Three years of post-graduate teaching experience is the floor, not the ceiling. You will be expected to shoulder board-exam prep, curate practicals that fit inside a 45-minute slot, and still explain why the sky is blue at 8 a.m. on the playground.
Day-to-Day Duties
Design weekly lesson plans aligned to the CHSE blueprint and upload them on the school’s shared Google Drive folder every Sunday night.
Conduct demonstration experiments using locally available materials—balloons for pressure, torch bulbs for circuits—so students see theory in the backyard.
Set, check, and return monthly unit tests within five working days; upload marks on the school ERP before the next Monday assembly.
Organise after-school problem-solving clinics for students targeting JEE Main and NEET; keep attendance flexible so rural kids can walk in after the bus drops them.
Coordinate with the chemistry and math departments to schedule common revision weeks before pre-board exams.
Mentor two junior teachers by co-teaching two periods every week and giving feedback on their lesson plans.
Prepare the annual practical logbook and inventory for physics lab; reconcile stock before the CHSE inspection visit.
Attend the weekly department huddle in the staff room at 7:30 a.m. sharp to fine-tune the term plan.
Required Qualifications
Post-graduate degree in Physics with minimum 55% marks from a recognised university.
B.Ed or M.Ed in Physical Science discipline; NET/SET qualified candidates will get preference.
Three years of full-time Physics Teaching Job in Keonjhar Sadar or equivalent senior-secondary setting.
Fluency in Odia and English; ability to explain complex concepts in simple Odia when needed.
Prior experience with CHSE-style question paper setting or paper evaluation is a plus.
School Environment
St. Xavier High School runs two shifts—morning for boys and co-ed afternoon section for girls—so the physics lab is a shared space that must be reset twice daily. Kendujhar’s summer heat means classrooms are ventilated with large windows and ceiling fans running at full tilt; monsoon leaks are fixed within 24 hours. Teachers are expected to be present from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., with one free period tucked between classes. The school celebrates Sarala Das Divas with a science exhibition where students build working models from scrap; the physics department always draws the largest crowd.
What You Get
Monthly gross salary ranges from Rs.30,000 to Rs.60,000 based on experience and qualifications. In addition, you receive reimbursement for local conveyance, a book allowance of Rs.2,000 every academic year, and subsidised canteen meals at the staff rate. The school contributes towards a group medical policy that covers parents and two children up to the age of 25.
