Sociology (PGT) Vacancy in Firozpur, Punjab
Dass & Brown World School
Job Description
Job Overview
Dass & Brown World School integrates smart boards, cloud-based resources, and real-time analytics to shape every Sociology lesson in Firozpur. The PGT Sociology Teacher will design and deliver senior-secondary Sociology content that links classical theories with local case studies from Punjab’s villages and urban clusters. Classes run on a blended model that mixes synchronous discussions, flipped assignments, and project-based assessments tracked through the school’s LMS.
Teaching Approach
Sociology classes at Dass & Brown World School rely on smart boards for concept mapping and Google Classroom for distributing readings on caste dynamics and agrarian change. Weekly flipped videos on Durkheim or Weber are uploaded so students arrive prepared for debate-style seminars. The LMS hosts discussion forums where learners post reflections on gender roles in Firozpur’s markets, fostering asynchronous peer learning beyond school hours. Teachers use blended modules that alternate physical field visits to nearby slums with virtual guest lectures by Punjabi sociologists.
Key Responsibilities
Plan and teach Sociology for grades XI–XII using CBSE-aligned content while embedding local examples from Firozpur and surrounding districts. Create flipped video lectures and upload them to the LMS before each unit to enable in-class application and discussion. Maintain a digital portfolio of student projects on topics such as migration patterns from Firozpur to Canada and their impact on family structures. Use smart boards to visualize Giddens’ structuration theory or caste census data, ensuring visual clarity for visual learners. Moderate Google Classroom forums where students critique media reports on Punjab’s farmer protests and link them to class concepts. Conduct bi-weekly formative quizzes on the LMS to track understanding of Weber’s class, status, and party. Organize monthly virtual seminars with Punjabi sociologists for grade XII students preparing for board exams. Provide timely feedback on assignments submitted through Google Classroom, using rubrics shared in advance.
Eligibility Criteria
Postgraduate degree in Sociology with a minimum of 55% marks from a recognized university. B.Ed or D.El.Ed degree recognized by NCTE. Two years of full-time teaching experience in Sociology at the senior-secondary level. Experience with smart boards, Google Workspace, and at least one LMS is desirable.
Preferred Skills
Strong digital literacy to create, edit, and upload video content and interactive slides. Familiarity with Google Classroom, Jamboard, and at least one LMS such as Moodle or Canvas. Ability to curate Punjabi-language case studies and local datasets for classroom use. Comfort with online assessment tools for formative and summative checks.
Salary and Benefits
Rs.40,000 to Rs.60,000 per month based on experience and qualifications. In-house training on smart-board pedagogy and LMS tools provided during the first month. Access to digital library resources and subscriptions to sociological journals. Health coverage under the school’s group insurance scheme.
