St. Mary Sr. Sec. School

When I first walked into St. Mary’s Senior Secondary School in Hayatpur, the first thing I noticed was how ordinary the building felt, as if it were just another school in the neighborhood, but the moment my child stepped into a classroom the feeling changed. It’s an English‑medium, co‑educational school run by the ADS Educational Trust, and the whole place is tucked away in VPO Hayatpur, Nurpur Bedi, just a short drive from Anandpur Sahib in the Rupnagar district. The campus isn’t huge, but it’s clean and well‑kept, and you can see the CBSE flag waving proudly over the main gate. From the first grade all the way up to class XII, the school follows the CBSE syllabus, so the focus is really on building a solid foundation in maths, science and language before moving on to the more specialised subjects in senior secondary.

What sets St. Mary’s apart, in my experience, is the kind of teachers they bring in. Most of them have at least a postgraduate degree in their subject and many have spent a few years teaching elsewhere before joining. They’re not just qualified on paper; they actually care about the kids. I’ve seen them stay after school to help a student who’s struggling with algebra, or to guide a group preparing for the science fair. They speak English fluently but they also know how to explain things in Punjabi when that makes a concept click. The teachers seem to know each student by name, and they make an effort to understand where each child is coming from academically and emotionally.

Families trust St. Mary’s because the school is transparent and involved. Every term there’s a parent‑teacher meeting where the teachers show the workbooks, discuss progress and suggest what we can do
