About Ela Green School | Tamil Nadu

Ela Green School sits on the quiet stretch of land at 603209 in Chengalpattu, a town where families have long relied on nearby schools for their children’s first steps into formal education. The neighbourhood is a mix of long‑time residents and newer families moving in from the expanding suburbs of South Chennai, and the school has become a place many of them look to when they think about a steady, reliable education for their kids.

The campus spreads over eleven acres and, despite its size, feels intimate because of the 25:2 student‑to‑teacher ratio the school maintains. Teachers know each child by name, and that familiarity lets lessons move beyond the textbook when a student is struggling or showing particular curiosity. The buildings carry a LEED Platinum badge, which means the school’s design keeps energy use low and the surrounding green spaces are cared for with real attention to water and waste.

Academically, Ela Green follows the CBSE curriculum while also offering the full International Baccalaureate continuum—from the Early Years Programme through the Primary, Middle and Diploma programmes. Founded by Ms Samhita M. in 2018, the school has built a clear pathway that lets students transition smoothly from one stage to the next, with the IB’s emphasis on inquiry and the CBSE’s focus on foundational knowledge both playing a part.

Beyond the classroom, the school’s motto, “Learning for Action, Action for Change,” is more than a slogan. Students spend time in an organic farm, learn about nutrition in the kitchen, and take part in clubs that push them to think about the wider world. By the time they finish, many have a solid set of academic results and a portfolio of experiences that help them move on to universities both in India and abroad.
