PGT History Teacher Job in Tiruchirappalli, Tamilnadu | School Recruitment
The reality of this role
This is a full-time PGT History Teacher position at Srv Matriculation School in Lalgudi. You will teach History to classes 11 and 12, preparing students for board exams and competitive exams. Your day will involve classroom teaching, correcting notebooks, and handling school events like Independence Day and Republic Day functions.
What you will actually do
You will prepare lesson plans for PGT History covering ancient, medieval, and modern Indian History as well as world History.
You will conduct regular tests and assignments, correcting answer sheets and giving feedback to students.
You will organize History-related activities like quiz competitions, essay writing, and model-making projects.
You will attend staff meetings, parent-teacher meetings, and school functions as assigned.
You will maintain classroom discipline and ensure students follow the school’s code of conduct.
You will coordinate with other History teachers for common tests and revision schedules.
You will handle practical sessions if required, using charts, maps, and audio-visual aids.
You will report to the Head of the Social Science Department and the School Principal.
Who can do this job
You need a postgraduate degree in History with a B.Ed or D.El.Ed. Two years of teaching experience in History at the higher secondary level is required. TET or CTET is preferred but not mandatory.

You must know how to explain historical events clearly and relate them to current affairs.
You should be comfortable using smart boards, projectors, and digital resources.
You need patience to handle students with varying learning speeds.
A calm and firm attitude helps maintain discipline in class.
You should be ready to participate in school events and extra-curricular activities.
