Key Responsibilities
- Plan, prepare and deliver daily English lessons for Classes 9–12 adhering to CBSE curriculum and CCE guidelines.
- Design age-appropriate lesson plans that integrate listening, speaking, reading, writing, grammar and literature.
- Create formative and summative assessments, including unit tests, projects and term-end examinations.
- Maintain accurate records of attendance, marks and anecdotal notes as per school policy.
- Organise co-curricular activities such as elocution, debate, creative writing and literary clubs.
- Provide remedial support to students scoring below 40% in English through after-school sessions.
- Collaborate with the English department to develop annual teaching plans and resource repositories.
- Attend weekly subject-teacher meetings and contribute to curriculum review cycles.
- Mentor student-teachers and interns assigned to the department.
- Represent the school in inter-school literary events and Olympiads.
KPIs and Outcomes
- Achieve 90% or higher pass percentage in English for Classes 9–12 every academic year.
- Secure at least 60% of students scoring 85%+ aggregate in English board examinations.
- Ensure 100% completion of syllabus two weeks before the scheduled examination dates.
- Maintain student feedback score of 4.5/5.0 or above on lesson delivery and rapport.
- Publish at least one class magazine or newsletter per semester showcasing student writing.
- Increase participation in inter-school English competitions by 15% YoY.
Instruction Approach
- Use a blended methodology combining traditional grammar-translation with modern communicative and task-based learning.
- Incorporate multimedia resources, audio-visual aids and digital platforms like Padlet and Google Classroom.
- Emphasise phonics, vocabulary building and creative writing from Classes 9–10; shift to critical literary analysis and research-based projects in Classes 11–12.
- Adopt flipped-classroom techniques for grammar drills and reading comprehension.
- Employ differentiated instruction to cater to diverse learning styles and proficiency levels.
- Conduct weekly vocabulary quizzes and monthly book reviews to foster a reading culture.
Additional Skills
- Proficiency in spoken and written English with neutral accent and clear diction.
- Familiarity with CBSE sample papers, marking schemes and board-exam trends.
- Basic digital literacy for LMS, assessment tools and online teaching platforms.
