Chess Coach Job in Gautam Buddha Nagar, Uttar Pradesh
Role Summary
This is a senior administrative role reporting directly to the Head of Sports & Activities at Amity International School in Sadar, Gautam Buddha Nagar. The Chess Coach is responsible for shaping the school’s competitive chess program, aligning it with broader academic and extracurricular goals. Overseeing a team of assistant coaches, managing tournament participation, and ensuring consistent performance across age groups will be central to the position.
Day-to-Day Duties
Plan and conduct weekly training sessions for students in grades 3 to 12, with a focus on tactical development and tournament readiness. Coordinate with the sports department to integrate chess into inter-house and inter-school competitions throughout Gautam Buddha Nagar.
Monitor progress of individual players and teams, maintaining records of performance metrics and improvement plans. Organize internal mock tournaments every month to simulate competitive pressure and refine strategies.
Collaborate with the school counselor to identify students who may benefit from chess as a confidence-building tool, especially in the Sadar zone. Represent Amity International School at regional and state-level chess forums in Uttar Pradesh.
Oversee the procurement and maintenance of chess sets, clocks, and digital training software. Manage assistant coaches, assigning duties and conducting performance reviews aligned with school standards.
Communicate regularly with parents, especially in Sadar and surrounding areas, to explain tournament schedules and performance expectations. Liaise with external chess academies for master-class sessions and resource sharing.
Required Qualifications
Minimum of 3 years of full-time chess coaching experience, preferably in a school or academy setting. Postgraduate degree in any discipline, with a strong preference for M.A. in Psychology, Sports Science, or related fields.
Prior experience leading a chess program with at least 20 competitive players per year. Familiarity with FIDE-rated tournaments and Uttar Pradesh State Sports Council norms is desirable.
