Psychological Counsellor Job in Gautam Buddha Nagar, Uttar Pradesh
Role Summary
This is a senior administrative leadership position at Vishwa Bharti Public School reporting directly to the Principal. The Psychological Counsellor will lead the student well-being and guidance cell, shape policy on behavioural interventions, and coordinate with class coordinators and external specialists. The role carries responsibility for designing annual counselling calendars, monitoring intervention outcomes, and advising the school leadership on child protection and inclusion protocols.
Day-to-Day Duties
Organise and conduct individual and group counselling sessions for students from classes VI to XII, maintaining confidential case files in compliance with POCSO and school policies. Develop and implement age-appropriate life-skills modules aligned with CBSE wellness curriculum and Uttar Pradesh state guidelines. Liaise with parents during quarterly PTMs and home visits in Gautam Buddha Nagar to share progress and recommend home-based support strategies.
Train class coordinators and house wardens in early identification of academic stress, peer conflicts, and digital addiction signs, running monthly in-house workshops at Vishwa Bharti Public School. Coordinate with external psychologists and psychiatrists for referrals when deeper intervention is needed, ensuring seamless transition between school and clinical care. Oversee the administration of psychometric assessments for career guidance and stream selection, interpreting results for students and parents in Hindi and English.
Collaborate with the academic coordinator to integrate socio-emotional learning outcomes into class assemblies and inter-house activities scheduled every fortnight. Maintain up-to-date records of all counselling sessions, interventions, and follow-ups in the school ERP system. Represent the school at district-level child welfare meetings organised by Gautam Buddha Nagar authorities and CBSE regional office.
Required Qualifications
Postgraduate degree in Psychology, Counselling Psychology, or Child Development from a recognised Indian university. Minimum five years of full-time experience in school psychological counselling, with at least three years in a senior role at a CBSE-affiliated institution. Proficiency in Hindi and English, fluency in local dialects of Gautam Buddha Nagar welcomed.
Preference for candidates holding M.A. in Psychology, M.Sc in Counselling, or M.Ed with specialisation in Guidance and Counselling. Familiarity with CBSE wellness initiatives, POSHAN Abhiyaan modules, and Uttar Pradesh state child protection rules is an advantage.
