Job Description

Position Overview
The NTT Art and Craft Teacher will deliver engaging, inquiry-based lessons that nurture creativity, fine-motor skills, and visual literacy in Nursery and Reception students within our international school. You will collaborate with homeroom teams to integrate art across the curriculum while maintaining a vibrant studio environment. This is a full-time, non-tenure-track position with annual contract renewal.

Performance Expectations
Develop weekly lesson plans aligned to IPC and EYFS frameworks, ensuring clear learning objectives and differentiation for ages 3–5.
Maintain a standards-based art studio stocked with developmentally appropriate supplies; conduct monthly inventory and submit requisition requests.
Plan and facilitate one annual art exhibition per class, inviting parents and community members to showcase student portfolios.
Document student progress using the school’s digital portfolio platform; upload evidence every two weeks and provide written observations monthly.
Attend weekly grade-level planning meetings and monthly curriculum review sessions to refine interdisciplinary links.
Implement a 10-minute mindfulness art warm-up at the start of each lesson to build focus and fine-motor control.
Collaborate with the librarian to integrate picture books that inspire art-making; lead a quarterly “Story & Studio” session.
Collect and analyze formative assessment data after every unit; present findings to the Early Years coordinator using simple data visualizations.
Participate in two professional learning communities per semester focused on Reggio-inspired provocations and sustainable art materials.
Contribute to the school’s annual arts festival by designing and leading a community art installation with families.

Career Growth
Year 1: NTT Art and Craft Teacher – master lesson planning, assessment cycles, and studio management.
Year 2: Senior NTT Art and Craft Teacher – mentor new art teachers, lead a mini-research project on early years art cognition, and co-author a unit plan published on the school intranet.
Year 3: Full-time Art Coordinator (subject to performance and availability) – oversee PYP art integration, manage budget, and represent the arts on the curriculum leadership team.
Year 4+: Potential pathway to Permanent Resident Teacher status via school-sponsored professional development culminating in a PGCEi or MA in Art Education. Additional routes include becoming an IB workshop leader or international school consultant.

School Culture
We are a values-driven international school where respect, responsibility, and resilience are lived daily. Our Early Years wing operates as a “living atelier,” encouraging children to explore materials freely while teachers act as co-learners. Weekly assemblies celebrate student artworks, and parent coffee mornings feature child-led art tours. We embrace a growth mindset; mistakes are framed as experiments, and every child’s creative voice is honored.

Instruction Approach
Lessons follow a 4-phase cycle: provocation, exploration, reflection, and extension. You will use open-ended questions (“What do you notice about the texture?”) and child-centered demonstrations rather than step-by-step instructions. Materials are presented in “loose parts” stations that rotate every three weeks to sustain curiosity. You will integrate technology through age-appropriate apps like Tux Paint and Seesaw, always balancing screen time with hands-on making.

Eligibility Criteria
Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts, Art Education, or related field (or Bachelor’s in any discipline plus a recognized art-teacher certification).
Minimum one year of classroom experience with children aged 3–8, preferably in an international or IB context.
Fluency in English; additional language proficiency is an advantage.
Willingness to relocate to a Tier 3 city and live on campus in furnished housing provided by the school.
Valid work visa eligibility for India.

Performance Expectations (KPIs and expectations)
Student Engagement: Achieve 90% participation rate in art activities as recorded in weekly anecdotal notes.
Skill Acquisition: 80% of students meet or exceed age-level benchmarks on the school’s art rubric by the end of each semester.
Parent Satisfaction: Maintain a minimum 4.5/5 rating on post-exhibition parent surveys.
Resource Stewardship: Keep supply waste below 5% through reuse and recycling initiatives.
Professional Development: Complete 40 hours of arts-focused PD annually; present one workshop to colleagues per year.
Collaboration: Contribute to at least two cross-curricular units each term, evidenced by co-planned lesson artifacts.
Assessment Cycle: Submit all portfolio uploads and observation reports on schedule with 100% completion rate.

Professional Development Opportunities
Annual international art education conference sponsorship (travel and registration).
Monthly online masterclasses with IB and Reggio Emilia consultants.
Micro-credentials in Maker Education and STEAM integration through Coursera and edX.
School-funded certification in Child Protection and Inclusive Classrooms.
Access to a professional art library and subscription to journals such as International Journal of Art & Design Education.
Peer observation cycles with senior art teachers in other international schools via the COBIS network.
Twice-yearly curriculum design sprints where teachers prototype new units in cross-functional teams.
