Lab Assistant Job in Mathura, Uttar Pradesh
Role Summary
This is a senior administrative position responsible for overseeing the laboratory infrastructure, safety protocols, and operational workflows at a leading general school in Mathura, Uttar Pradesh. The role reports directly to the School Principal and collaborates with the administrative leadership team to ensure seamless laboratory operations. The position requires strategic planning, staff supervision, and compliance with State Board of Uttar Pradesh guidelines.
Day-to-Day Duties
Maintain laboratory equipment inventory, coordinate calibration schedules, and ensure timely procurement of consumables and reagents. Oversee safety drills, emergency response plans, and compliance with hazardous material handling norms as per State Board directives. Manage a team of junior lab staff, conduct performance appraisals, and organize training sessions on updated laboratory protocols.
Liaise with academic departments to align laboratory schedules with curriculum requirements. Prepare annual maintenance budgets, track expenditures, and recommend cost-saving measures without compromising safety standards. Interface with external vendors for equipment servicing and ensure all laboratory documentation meets regulatory and accreditation standards.
Facilitate inter-departmental coordination for school events, science fairs, and parent-teacher interactions involving laboratory demonstrations. Implement digital record-keeping systems for inventory, usage logs, and safety incident reports to improve transparency and audit readiness.
Required Qualifications
Graduate degree in Science or related field from a recognized university. Minimum 5 years of hands-on laboratory management experience in an educational institution. Preference for candidates with postgraduate qualifications such as M.Sc or M.A in relevant disciplines. Familiarity with State Board of Uttar Pradesh laboratory standards and safety regulations is essential.
Prior experience supervising lab support staff and managing budgets is mandatory. Knowledge of digital inventory tools and basic data analysis for lab utilization trends is desirable. NET or SET qualification will be an added advantage.
