Job Description

Job Context

A PGT Geography Teacher will join Laurels International School in Prayagraj, where students from grades 9 to 12 engage deeply with physical and human geography. This role focuses on shaping young minds through interactive lessons, field studies, and real-world applications of geographical concepts. The position offers a competitive monthly salary of Rs.34,000 to Rs.50,000, along with opportunities to contribute to a dynamic academic environment.

Qualifications and Preferences

To apply, hold a postgraduate degree in Geography with a B.Ed or D.El.Ed qualification. A TET/CTET certificate is preferred but not mandatory. A minimum of two years of teaching experience is required, ideally in a school setting. Strong subject knowledge, especially in topics like environmental geography, cartography, and regional studies, will be valued.

Daily Responsibilities

Teaching geography to students from grades 9 to 12 involves designing engaging lesson plans that blend theory with practical examples. You’ll cover topics such as climate systems, natural resources, urbanization, and global geopolitics. Classroom instruction includes visual aids, group discussions, and hands-on activities to reinforce learning. Assisting in curriculum development and aligning lessons with national education standards is also part of the daily routine.

Recurring Tasks

Each week, you’ll prepare lesson materials, conduct classroom assessments, and provide feedback to students. Collaborating with other subject teachers to integrate geography concepts across disciplines is essential. Managing student projects, such as research papers or presentations, ensures they apply geographical knowledge in meaningful ways. Regularly updating the school’s geography resource library with new textbooks and educational tools is a consistent responsibility.

Periodic Responsibilities

Throughout the academic year, you’ll participate in school-wide events like science fairs or geography workshops, where you can showcase your expertise. Attending professional development sessions to stay updated on teaching methods and curriculum changes is encouraged. Periodically, you’ll review student performance data to identify areas where additional support is needed. Engaging with parents through parent-teacher meetings to discuss student progress is also part of your role.

Work Environment and Culture

Working at Laurels International School means joining a community that values innovation and academic excellence. The school encourages teachers to explore new teaching techniques while maintaining a supportive and inclusive environment. Your contributions will directly impact students’ understanding of geography, fostering a deeper appreciation for the subject. The role offers a balanced work-life dynamic, allowing you to focus on both teaching and personal growth.

About School

The classrooms are bright, the corridors echo with the chatter of kids who seem genuinely interested in what they’re learning, and there’s a small garden where the older students sometimes gather for a quick break. It’s not just the walls that make the place special; it’s the way the school... Explore full school profile →
